Standing on one the highest natural point in New York City, Gould Memorial Library, along with Philosophy Hall and Language Hall, its sister buildings, were designed by celebrated architect Stanford White at the turn of the century in Classical Revival style. Other notable New York landmarks by White are Washington Square Arch and Park Avenue Armory. The richly ornamental Library, modeled after t

he Pantheon in Rome, proved impractical as a Library and is currently in search of new use. It is currently undergoing an extensive renovation of its copper roof.

Donald Trump the Candidate from Hell

Donald Trump is all too literally the candidate from hell and, yes, he’s threatening to take the United States and the world to — no place else! — hell and back. He’s the greatest danger to this planet imaginable. And I’m not even thinking about what else he’d do, were he to win election 2024 and return to the Oval Office, having reassured his religious voters that, should they opt for him this November, they’ll never have to do so again. (“Get out and vote, just this time… You won’t have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what? It’ll be fixed, it’ll be fine, you won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians.”)

ARE THE REPUBLICANS WARNING US ABOUT THEIR INTENTION TO TAKE OVER WASHINGTON BY FORCE IF THEY LOSE THEIR ELECTION!
(AP) — A conservative think tank that is planning for a complete overhaul of the federal government in the event of a Republican presidential win is suggesting that President Joe Biden might try to hold the White House “by force” if he loses the November election.

HUMANS LEARN FROM OTHER EARTH'S SPECIES! Admiration for ants and other social insects as paragons of selflessness and industry goes back at least as far as Aesop and modern ecologists have tallied our collective debt to them for their roles in pollination, aerating the soil, distributing seeds, controlling pests, nourishing other life and countless other ecosystem services. But what makes social insects intriguing for evolutionary biologists is that they live in cooperative nests where adults share in the burden of raising and protecting offspring. Often a single queen lays eggs and breeds with her squad of male drones, while other females dedicate their lives to the common good. On its face, such a “eusocial” arrangement sounds wildly contrary to the “me first” ethos of natural selection. Quanta Online Magazine."

"CNN’s failure to meaningfully fact-check, follow up, or push back on Trump’s lies and evasions in real-time thwarted its goal of helping voters make informed decisions—and ensured that the day-after debate takeaways would focus primarily on Biden’s demeanor while letting Trump slide on his near-total lack of substance." https://slate.com/business/2024/06/trump-biden-presidential-debate-cnn-reactions.html?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR3d-Yl2B4ozKQoCC0MKM46Oe5_p9qaB6iPqkJyFqTMs7_31KOIlGsubI6w_aem_VyIf0qRQIU042AjSUEBHxg

Biden's debacle was as much the failure of Taper and Bush as it was Biden's, They permitted Trump to spew his lies uninterrupted. At any time they could have pulled the plug on him. That they did not was gross negligence and nothing to be proud of.

CNN did the country no favors on Thursday night.

AMERICANS, REPUBLICAN'S BEWARE!

Within two years, however, Hi**er and the N***s outmaneuvered Germany's conservative politicians to consolidate a radical N**i dictatorship completely subordinate to Hi**er's personal will

n case you missed this: “Former president Trump, who is now the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, prompted some of the economic reporting I noted above when he tried to spark attacks on President Joe Biden by asking on social media if people feel better off now than they were four years ago. This was perhaps a mistaken message, since four years ago we were in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. Supermarket shelves were empty, toilet paper was hard to find, healthcare professionals were wearing garbage bags and reusing masks because the Trump administration had permitted the strategic stockpile to run low, deaths were mounting, the stock market.

In 2010, after 35 years in Publishing, and a few years into retirement, I wanted to explore a new field. I enlisted for a stint at Bronx Community College [one of the 24 Colleges in the CUNY system] as a part-time graphic designer. A new Design Director suggested that I become interested in the architecture of Stanford White, who had designed the campus for New York University in 1901. I began to give tours of the Hall of Fame Great American. A became immersed in its origin, history, and uniqueness. For fourteen ears, in addition to giving tours to visitors, and school groups. I became its historian and wrote about it' founding and current state. The highlight of my years there was the visit of Stanford White's children to the campus and a tour of Goulf Memorial Library and the Hall of Fame. This phase of my career ended in June 2023 when I gave my last tour.

Our Story

Stanford White’s Gould Memorial Library, a structure reminiscent of the Pantheon of Ancient Rome, is an unknown treasure today. Few know of its existence, but for a number of decades, the library was considered the most impressive building in the Bronx. When designing the Gould Memorial Library, White hoped to channel the scenery in the Bronx in a similar fashion by building the library on the highest part of campus overlooking the Harlem River.

White envisioned a grand classical structure with a large stairway, columns, arched openings, decorative details and most significantly, a dome. The rotunda would become the defining feature of his library.
