Welcome to our Legacy Project Series. First up: the Federal Home Loan Bank Board Building, one of Max O. Urbahn & Associates' most celebrated achievements. We sat down with Martin Stein to hear the story behind it, straight from someone who lived it.

At 250,000 square feet, this building became the nation's first mixed-use federal development, blending government offices with lively public spaces. A skating rink that doubled as a reflecting pool, a welcoming galleria, and a forward-thinking energy-efficient envelope all worked together to reimagine what civic architecture could be.

Over this three-part video series, Martin shares his firsthand experience designing, developing, and shaping the legacy of this landmark project.

A new model for improving NYC subway accessibility is here. Two new elevators at the 57th Street station in Midtown were fully funded by Sedesco through the MTA's Zoning for Accessibility program, the first project of its kind. Urbahn is proud to have partnered with Sedesco on this transformative project, helping advance ADA accessibility while supporting innovative transit-oriented development across New York City.

We're also proud to add this milestone to our growing portfolio of transit projects and to our continued collaboration with Forte Construction Corp., delivering projects that improves mobility and accessibility for New Yorkers

Former President Bill Clinton joined Urbahn Principal Rafael Stein, Project Manager Dan Zbarsky, and Designers Roshini Brahmaiah and Sahar Rahaman for the official groundbreaking of Anchor House, a residential treatment center for men recovering from addiction, operating in Brooklyn since 1967. The $18 million expansion, designed by Urbahn, will allow the Crown Heights-based facility to grow from 50 to 70 beds. Project partners include parent organization United Methodist City Society, DASNY, and OASAS.

Urbahn Architects’ Lehman College Nursing Education, Research, and Practice Center will be featured on America ByDesign TV, highlighting its role in advancing healthcare education in the Bronx.

The 52,000 sq. ft. facility was designed to support the next generation of nurses serving underserved communities, with spaces that integrate learning, research, and hands-on practice.
