Quiet is not something that just happens.

It is engineered.

There is a reason some spaces feel completely removed from the city outside even when the street below is doing exactly what New York streets do. It is not luck. It is not thick walls. It is the science of how sound actually travels and what happens when you give it nowhere left to go.

Citiquiet has spent 33 years understanding exactly that. 🖤

There is a moment most New Yorkers have had at least once.

Usually around 2am. When the street outside is doing what it always does and sleep feels like something happening to everyone else in the world except them.

In that moment it is not really about the noise anymore.

It is about finally deciding that this is not just how it has to be.

Thirty three years ago Citiquiet was built for exactly that moment. The one where a New Yorker decides they are done waiting to feel at home in their own space. 🖤

"Soundproof" gets used pretty loosely, so we figured we'd actually define it.

Nothing blocks 100% of sound, not even recording studios. What we're really doing is noise reduction, and there's a real difference between that, sound absorption (think rugs and curtains softening echo), and sound isolation (physically separating two spaces). Windows fall into that first category, reducing what comes through the glass itself.

Knowing the difference just makes it easier to know what you're actually paying for.

Someone asked our team "what are your plans today" and this was basically the answer: ladder up, panel in, van loaded, next stop.

This is what a regular install day looks like for us, no film crew, no staging, just the same guys doing the same careful work they've been doing for years. If you've ever wondered what actually happens when you book an estimate with us, this is it.

Mood after your CitiQuiet Windows get installed and you no longer hear the garbage trucks at 2am, the construction crew across the street and sirens all day long.

Firefighters stood in the rain in Brooklyn on Sunday, in full gear, ready to walk the route Stephen Siller ran on September 11th.

He ran it carrying his gear, through the tunnel, to reach the Towers. He never made it home. Twenty-five years later, firefighters from Newark, Kenilworth, DC, and so many other departments still walk it for him, and for every hero we lost that day.

The CitiQuiet team took part this year, standing among them.

New Yorkers filed 753,222 noise complaints last year. Wakefield had the most, Flatbush came in second.

What those numbers don't show is how many of those complaints actually led anywhere. A 311 call is often just the start of the process, not a fix, and a lot of what people report (traffic, transit, everyday city noise) isn't breaking any law in the first place.

If you're in one of these neighborhoods, or anywhere else dealing with this, tag someone who'd find this interesting.

Nobody's actually quieting New York City. That's not the goal.

What we do is a lot more specific: an interior window that installs in front of the one you already have. No demolition, no board approval, just less noise getting into your apartment than there was before.

The only loud thing CitiQuiet will ever make in your home. 🪟

That drilling you see is the noisiest moment of the whole job. A few hours later the team packs up and leaves. And the apartment behind those windows is a different place.

The street does not go anywhere. The garbage trucks still run at 5am. The city does what the city does. It just stops coming through the glass the way it used to.

Most people do not realise how much the noise was affecting them until it is gone. That is the part that surprises people most.

If you have ever put up thicker curtains, stuffed towels in the gaps, or turned up the TV just to drown out the street — this is probably why nothing worked. 🪟

Most people assume the noise is coming through the walls. In most NYC apartments it is not. It is coming through the glass. And a standard window barely slows it down.

Swipe through. This one actually explains what is happening and why the fix most people try does not address the real problem.
