Krasner and Po***ck: Past Continuous at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, on view through January 31, 2027, explores the intertwined lives and artistic practices of Lee Krasner and Jackson Po***ck. Bringing together more than 120 works, the exhibition traces their individual approaches to abstraction and their contributions to the development of Abstract Expressionism, highlighting the interplay between personal experience, memory, and artistic experimentation.

Jean Royère’s Liane light fixture translates the organic movement of climbing vines into sculptural steel. Developed in the 1950s after Royère’s travels through Scandinavia, the fixtures were inspired by the way plants were incorporated into Nordic interiors, resulting in forms that feel both spontaneous and precisely composed.

With hand-forged steel following irregular, winding paths, Liane fixtures blur the line between lighting, sculpture, and architecture. Their sinuous silhouettes bring movement to the spaces they inhabit, while soft, diffused shades balance the expressive structure with a warm glow.

Pierre Chareau’s Maison de Verre, completed in Paris in 1932, is a defining work of early modern architecture. Designed for Dr. Jean and Annie Dalsace, the residence incorporated both a family home and medical practice, transforming the constraints of its historic site into an opportunity for architectural experimentation.

Characterized by its translucent glass-block façade, exposed steel structure, and movable partitions, the house explores new ideas of light, flexibility, and function. Chareau integrated furniture, lighting, and mechanical elements into the architecture, creating a cohesive interior where craftsmanship and modern technology exist side by side.
