This morning, our community came together to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

A special thank you to the VFW Auxiliary for organizing this meaningful 9/11 remembrance ceremony, and to the community members who took the time to come out and pay tribute.

Our hearts are with the families, friends, and loved ones of everyone who lost their lives on 9/11. We also extend our deepest gratitude to the brave women and men who serve and protect our communities each and every day.

We will remember.

🌟Patriot Day – September 11 🌟

On September 11, our community will come together to remember, reflect, and honor those whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001.

The VFW Auxiliary invites everyone to join them at the New Richmond Fire Department, 106 S. Arch Ave., for a brief ceremony honoring the fallen and recognizing the courage and sacrifice of the first responders and all those who served that day.

🕊️ Moment of Silence: 8:55 a.m.

Please join us as we pause together in remembrance.

Patriot Day is a time to reflect on the strength, resilience, and unity that emerged in the face of tragedy—and to remember the importance of standing together as a community.

📚🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨📚

It has come to our attention that National Read a Book Day is TODAY, September 6… and frankly, we think this is something worth celebrating. 😏

Our team has some important reminders:

📖 Reading is good for you. Side effects may include laughing out loud, staying up “just one more chapter,” and suddenly needing to know what happens next.

📚 Books are everywhere. You don’t even have to buy one! We have thousands waiting for you right here at the New Richmond Library. 😉

⏰ There is no age limit. Kids, teens, adults, seniors… even the person who says, “I’m not really a reader.” We’ve got something for you.

🤫 Reading quietly is encouraged. Although dramatic gasps, occasional giggles, and whispering “NO WAY” to yourself are completely understandable.

🚨 If you experience symptoms of book-hoarding, please remain calm. We get it. We can help.

So, on National Read a Book Day, we have just one question:

What are YOU reading? 👀📚

Stop by the New Richmond Community Library this week and tell us how you celebrated!

Back to School: Let’s Keep Our Students Safe! 🚌📚

Next week marks the start of another school year, which means school buses will be back on our roads and students will be walking and biking throughout our community.

Please slow down, stay alert, and give yourself extra time when traveling near schools and bus stops.

Remember these important safety reminders:

🛑 Stop for school buses when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended. Never attempt to pass a stopped school bus.
🚸 Watch for children near bus stops, crosswalks, and residential areas. Young students may not always be aware of traffic.
🚗 Slow down in school zones and follow posted speed limits.
🚌 Give buses plenty of space and be patient when they are stopping to pick up or drop off students.
📵 Put down the phone and eliminate distractions while driving.
👀 Look twice before pulling out of driveways or turning at intersections, especially during morning and afternoon school hours.

A few extra seconds of patience can make all the difference. Let’s work together to keep our students, bus drivers, pedestrians, and everyone who shares our roads safe throughout the school year.

Welcome back, students—and have a safe school year! 💙📚

“What are they doing there?!” 👀

We get that question a LOT at City Hall! While it’s up to a developer whether they choose to put up a sign for their project, some like to keep you guessing! 😉

So, how can you find out what development is happening around town? One great resource is our Plan Commission meeting agendas and minutes. These documents can provide information about proposed development projects that are coming before the Commission.

You can also sign up to receive notifications about upcoming meetings so you can stay in the know!
