Book Your Fall Garden Maintenance Visit πŸ‚

With school starting back up next week, you can feel summer starting to wind down β€” and that makes it the perfect time to start thinking about your garden's next season.

Fall is when a little care goes a long way toward a healthier, more vibrant spring garden.

Our September/October maintenance visits include:

🍁 Seasonal pruning
🌿 Weeding
🧹 Garden clean-up
🌷 Fall bulb planting

A little care now means your garden comes back more beautiful next season.

Have a garden problem that needs solving? We can help! 🌿

A client recently came to us with a tricky one: a steep, shady bank where the soil kept eroding β€” made worse by rain runoff coming down from a high roofline.

Here's how we tackled it:
🌱 We identified several shade-tolerant ground covers known for controlling erosion on steep slopes, and landed on variegated pachysandra as the best fit for this site
πŸ’§ We built a dry stone water channel to redirect rain runoff safely away from the house

The result: a slope that's no longer washing away, and a planting that actually thrives in the tough shady conditions that caused the problem in the first place.

Every garden has its challenges β€” steep slopes, dry beds, deep shade, you name it. If you're dealing with a problem spot in your garden, we'd love to help you figure out a solution.

Summer is in full swing β€” and so are our gardens! 🌸

We love seeing the colorful high summer perennials shine in gardens throughout July and August. Beds that were quiet a few months ago are now bursting with color (and height!), and full of pollinators.

We love bringing interesting textures into our designs to give gardens more movement, structure or contrast.

Here are a few plants for inspiration when you want to lean into texture:
🌼 Yarrow β€” soft, ferny foliage with flat-topped flower clusters that almost look like they're floating.
πŸ’  Eryngium (sea holly) β€” architectural and spiky, a great punctuation mark in a bed
🌿 Ferns β€” soft, low-key texture that works beautifully as a shady backdrop for delicate tiarella flowers

Thinking about texture for your own garden? Get in touch and let's talk about your next design! 🌱

We know it's been quiet on here lately β€” and there's a good reason for that! 🌿

We've been busy designing, planting, and caring for gardens. On this very rainy day, we had a moment to pause and share a snapshot of a recent garden installation that was designed to frame the walkway to a beautiful home.

A big thank You to the Ulster Garden Club for a wonderful lecture at SUNY Ulster with the fantastic Karl Gercens!
Such an informative and inspiring whistle stop tour of the floriferous bounty of the United States through the seasons.
So glad that I took the out time to attend and listen to this amazing Gardener!

These beauties came from the Duzine/Lenape PTA fundraiser with Alchemy Farmhouse β€” such a lovely variety of early spring bloomers, and they have not disappointed.

We know. The grass stumps are not exactly a look. πŸ˜„
β €
Cutting back ornamental grasses in spring is one of those tasks that feels a little drastic but pays off in a big way. Give it a few weeks and those clumps will be transformed β€” full, lush, and swaying beautifully in the breeze.
β €
Last year's dead growth sits right over the new shoots trying to push up from the base. Leave it in place and it smothers them. Clear it away and you give the new growth room to come in thick and strong.
β €
Those funny little stumps won't be around for long. 🌿
