Pool pump failures spike 40% in July across Central Indiana. The reason has nothing to do with bad luck.

Your pump has been running since opening day. By mid-June, peak heat layers new stress on a system that's already logged hundreds of hours. Bearings get hotter. Seals expand. Filter media that looked fine in May starts losing efficiency right when your pool needs it most.

We see the same pattern every year. A May system that "seemed fine" becomes a July shutdown, usually during the hottest week.

A ten-minute weekly check goes a long way:

✔ Clear the pump basket (a half-full basket makes your motor work twice as hard)
✔ Listen for new humming, grinding, or high-pitched whines
✔ Watch filter pressure. A jump of 8-10 PSI above clean baseline means it's time to backwash or replace media
✔ Feel the pump housing. Hot to the touch is a warning sign, not normal summer behavior

Catch it now, swim all July. Questions about what you're hearing or seeing at your pool? Drop them below, we read every one. 💧

She walked out to the pool deck, looked at the water, and just stopped. Took a breath.

That's the moment we work all spring for.

Behind every sparkling community pool on opening weekend, there are weeks of work most homeowners never see. Pumps inspected. Chemistry dialed in. Tile scrubbed. Equipment tested and retested until it hums the way it should.

When it's done right, none of that is visible. What's visible is a clean blue surface, kids lining up at the gate, and a neighbor exhaling because her summer just officially started.

That's the quiet payoff of trusting professionals to handle the details. And it's why we love what we do across Central Indiana every season.

Here's to the first dip of summer. 💙

A customer once told us she watched her heater struggle for three weeks before calling. She thought she was supposed to just know what was wrong.

You don't. That's our job.

Pool equipment is genuinely confusing. Heaters, pumps, filters, salt systems, automation panels. There are easily 10+ categories of things that can go sideways, and none of them came with a homeowner's manual you actually read cover to cover.

So here is your permission slip. Use any of these the next time a technician is at your pool:

"Can you show me what you're looking at?"
"What would happen if we waited on this repair?"
"Is this a replace-now situation, or a watch-it situation?"
"What's the difference between the options you're recommending?"
"Can you walk me through the price?"

We mean it. One of our long-time residential customers, Dennis, mentioned that what he appreciated most was that our techs answered every question he had, no matter how small. That's the standard. Not the exception.

Asking questions doesn't make you a difficult customer. It makes you an informed one, and informed pool owners almost always end up with healthier equipment and lower long-term costs.

Next time we're out at your place in Central Indiana, ask away. 💧

Morning swim or evening swim. Which one is your summer ritual?

There's something about a quiet morning dip before the day gets loud. Cool water, calm surface, coffee waiting on the deck. It's the best way we know to start a Central Indiana summer day.

Then there's the evening crowd. Sun going down, grill smoking, kids finally tired enough to float instead of cannonball. The water feels warmer, the conversations get longer, and nobody's checking the clock.

We see both camps every week out on service routes, and folks have strong opinions.

So tell us. Are you a sunrise swimmer or a sunset soaker? Drop your pick in the comments and tag the friend you'd invite over. 🌊

Pressure gauge reads normal. Backwash cycle runs fine. So the sand must be good, right?

Not quite. Sand grains are sharp and angular when they go in. After 5-7 years of water rushing past them, those edges wear smooth. Smooth, round sand can't trap dirt anymore. It just lets debris slide right through and back into your pool.

That's why some pools keep fighting cloudy water no matter how much you shock, vacuum, or run the pump. The filter looks like it's working. The media inside has quietly stopped doing its job.

We replace sand on Central Indiana filters that owners swore were "fine" all the time. Once fresh, sharp media goes in, the water clears up and stays that way.

If your pool has been cloudy this season and you can't figure out why, the sand is worth a look. Give us a call and we'll check it.
