your before you have a chance to

1) get a box of those roofing nails, with orange plastic tops. 2) get some 3 or 4’ long 1” x 2” lengths of wood. 3) get 2” sheetrock screws 4) get a dewalt or makita drill set (cheapest at lowe’s) 5) Now get a decent ladder 6) when you get on the roof, wear long pants/long sleeve shirt and a hat. 7) one person hands you the tarp while the other on the ladder pulls it up slowly until you get it on the roof. The secret is move slowly on roof. 😎 next, if the wind is blowing, start unrolling / unfolding the tarp UPwind of one end. the other person is laying down the wood with screws and nails and a hammer. I would start by nailing in a few nails first, then the 1x’s, screwing every 12” or so. work your way away from the tarp. never, ever go back walking on the tarp. ever.
