Congrats to our inaugural Industry Circle badge earners at last night's Birthday Bash!

In our apprenticeship program, youth earn these MHA Labs - Skills United badges to put on their hard hats by demonstrating mastery of a skill over a sustained period of time. Now our Industry Circle partners can earn the same kind of recognition.

At last night's Birthday Bash, many companies received their first badges for their hard hats, with special recognition to each Badge's award winner: RGGC (Team Work Ethic), Ryan Mayer Building Co (Professional Attitude), Gibbs Construction (Time Management), and Landis Construction, who took home two badges this year: Problem Solving and the highest honor of the Hire Up Award. (Descriptions below!)

Each year, we'll recognize the partners who earned their company badge in each category, and one exemplary partner in each who went above and beyond. These badges carry over year to year, and a company can earn the same badge more than once, like stripes on a karate belt.

- is measured by consistency and follow-through, showing up reliably, and spending the most time in the most ways.

- is measured by creatively helping solve real challenges, board or committee service, in-kind support, pro bono work, being "in the work."

- is measured by culture-setting leadership and an authentic presence with youth - most visibly, by creating job opportunities for uCC graduates.

- is measured by broad participation across program sessions - team spirit, collaboration, and showing up alongside youth.

- is measured by a youth vote plus measurable action across all five Industry Circle focus areas: Engage, Mentor, Employ, Build, and Donate.

Today we're celebrating two employee milestones! Big shout-outs to Gardner Robinson and John Krummel, both of whom mark their first year at Landis this month. Here's to many more years to come 🥂

Earlier this month, our team had a chance to visit the Algiers Cut-Off Natatorium jobsite, which reached substantial completion this week. This project brings a new indoor aquatic facility to the Cut-Off neighborhood, where safe, accessible recreation has long been a need. We're proud to deliver this much-anticipated project to the community, and look forward to officially cutting the ribbon!

Our Central Parking Garage team takes planning our work to the next level! In fact, they plan HOW to plan it. This week's Last Planner System huddle saw Kody Morris and the team from Bobuco walking through the three-week plan and checking it against the Takt Plan to ensure that today’s commitments line up with tomorrow's Takt. This is the kind of disciplined, collaborative planning, using the board and the spreadsheet side-by-side, that keeps jobsite conditions predictable and our trade partners synced up.

Landis Construction is proud to share progress on the historic restoration of the Touro Shakspeare Home in Algiers! Built in 1929, Touro Shakspeare served as senior housing for 70+ years before Katrina closed its doors. Phase one of this design-build project stabilized the structure, setting the stage for full rehabilitation in phase two. We're working alongside developer HRI, property owner City of New Orleans, and design-build partner HCI Architecture to peel back decades of history and reimagine this landmark for its next chapter.
