Before & After — Property Improvement Project
Today’s project focused on removing invasive honeysuckle and mulberry trees to open up and improve the existing trail system. Clearing overgrown areas helps enhance access, visibility, and overall usability of the property.

Our next phase will include cutting and piling dead ash trees to further improve the health, safety, and appearance of the land.

Back in the skid loader today doing some forestry mulching on invasive species!
We got a lot knocked out today, and we also offer foliar spraying for invasives next to trees and in those hard-to-reach areas where equipment can’t always get.

Here is a great video showcasing why we do what we do!

This video highlights turkey poults and what better management can do for your farm. Providing food resources and creating better habitat can give turkeys the resources they need to improve survival and thrive.

We’ve had great success with clover food plots, which provide areas where turkeys can bug and dry off on wet, dewy mornings. Oats and rye that stand into their second year, along with beneficial weeds, can provide excellent brooding cover for young poults.

Another important piece is predator management. Trapping predators can help reduce nest raids and predation on young turkeys, giving poults a better chance to survive.

Good habitat doesn’t happen by accident—it takes planning and the right management practices.

Putting up trail cameras to keep an eye on the bean plot and monitor nearby scrapes!

This setup takes advantage of a nearby trail where deer enter the field, and we’ve added a few mock scrapes to help get deer in front of the cameras. This gives us a great opportunity to build an inventory of the deer entering and exiting the field.

The setup also gives us a view across the entire field, allowing us to keep tabs on deer that may choose a different route into the plot.

Good camera placement and strategic mock scrapes can provide valuable information when it comes to understanding how deer are using your property.

Today we checked out the food plots, and they’re looking great!

- Soybeans are looking great and are full of pods.
- Sorghum is coming along nicely and has some weeds—but weeds aren’t always a bad thing in a wildlife food plot. They can provide additional cover for pheasants while also offering a food source.
- Corn is looking good and putting on some great ears!

Food plots are extremely valuable for wildlife, especially when winter conditions arrive. Proper planning and management can make a big difference for your property and the wildlife using it.

We’re burning downed trees and logs, cleaning up the woodland, and creating more trails and usable space!

This cleanup also gives us easier access to forestry mulch and allows us to come back next summer to treat invasive plants after they’ve resprouted.
