Before the holiday guests arrive, a quick walkthrough can save you a lot of trouble later. Here are the places we'd check first:
ā¾ Guest bathroom, running each toilet, sink, and shower to confirm everything works
ā¾ Under every sink, looking for drips or moisture around the supply lines
ā¾ Any drain that already runs slow, since a full house will make it worse
ā¾ The garbage disposal, before the cooking starts
ā¾ Your water heater, which a houseful of guests will ask a great deal more of
ā¾ Outdoor spigots and hose connections after a long season of use
Give each of these a few minutes well ahead of the first gathering rather than the morning of, and you'll have time to fix anything that turns up.
