Tragedy struck when the automatic shut-off/float switch on a dehumidifier failed, resulting in water damage to the flooring and subfloor.
To address the damage, I removed the affected tile, flooring, and plywood underlayment to expose the subfloor. Industrial fans were then positioned to thoroughly dry the subfloor and surrounding area. In the crawlspace, I removed the insulation between the floor joists in the affected area to allow the space underneath to properly dry and prevent further moisture-related issues.
The affected area was treated for mold, and I made myself available to meet with the insurance adjuster to review and document all areas identified as having water damage.
Once the subfloor had completely dried, I installed new flooring underlayment and high-quality 22-mil luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring, extending continuously from the foyer through the laundry area and throughout the kitchen.
Final repairs included installing new carpet transitions, quarter-round molding, and replacing the insulation removed from the crawlspace.
All repairs were completed to restore the affected areas and return the flooring and crawlspace to a clean, finished condition.
