So we have made a couple of trips out to Western NC to do some smaller rehab jobs on homes damaged in Hurricane Helene. These have been some of the smallest storm damage projects we have done the past few years but the homeowners have been so appreciative, kind, accommodating, have prayed for us, sent letters of appreciation, offered to feed us, and so many other things. It’s been rewarding to see the smiles on the faces of these people even for the smallest repairs. Thank you Shepherd Response for giving us the opportunity to participate in these projects not only was it a blessing for the participants it’s given us a blessing in return. One resident cried when she saw her new ceiling fan, and stove hood installed said I can’t believe I’ll be able to see in my kitchen again.

If you’re in New Bern today head out to Martin Marietta Park and cheer along the runners for Boots and Blooms 5K. This is an awesome cause that helps provide resources and comfort to those who have lost a child way to soon!

Bathroom remodel before and after

08/28/2026

The first picture is on arrival and the rest are the result of a 2.5 day bathroom renovation in Western NC. This is a home of a single mother that received damage to the only working bathroom in the home during hurricane Helene. This was a FEMA and NC funded project. Shepherd Response asked us to come and use our talents to put this bathroom back into a usable and safe form. As a team we wanted to give this single mom and her son a beautiful and functional bathroom! We had a vision and the guys helped me execute it in 2.5 days. Mud had gotten under the foundation from a mud slide and vines had overtaken and grown up inside. We removed the entire floor system, rebuilt the foundation, new subfloor, new plumbing, new electrical system, new LED lights, exhaust fan, LVP flooring, removed all paneling and installed sheetrock to walls and ceiling, all new tub, toilet, vanity and fresh paint job. These jobs aren’t glamorous or lucrative but the smile on the boys face and the tears from the mom when they saw their new bathroom are what it’s about sometimes!
