There’s a whole team behind every construction project—including people whose work you might never see on the jobsite.

Megan Aldridge, McRae’s Controller, is one of them.

Her focus is accounting and finance, but what she enjoys is understanding the bigger picture: getting to know the projects, working with different teams, and seeing how decisions affect the company as a whole.

“I enjoy being on the financial side and knowing that the work I do behind the scenes helps keep those projects moving forward.”

For Megan, construction is a team effort. She values the many people and trades it takes to make a project successful—and the opportunity to keep learning alongside them.

Outside of work, family and faith are at the center of her life. She loves being involved in her church and having all the kids together. Whether at Patoka Lake or the racetrack, the best part is making memories as a family .

Megan, we’re grateful for you and glad we get to work alongside you every day!

Sam Peden Community Park is the largest park in Floyd County and now its renovated lakeside pavilion is ready for more gatherings by the water.

The renovation brings more private restrooms, a refreshed gathering space, new drinking fountains, and updated facilities to the lakeside pavilion. We also prepared the building for a future concessions area.

We’re grateful to Floyd County Parks and Recreation for making the improvements possible for us all to enjoy.

The river keeps us on our toes. Flooding left more driftwood at the Falls of the Ohio, and our crew was back this week to help clear it.

This place means a lot to our community. We’re proud to support the Falls of the Ohio Foundation and its annual Rock the Rocks fundraiser this Saturday, September 26.

Come explore the free Family Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., then stay for the ticketed benefit concert on the fossil beds from 5 to 9 p.m. We hope to see you there.

We'll leave event details in the comments section.

Taking the work seriously doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the people you do it with.

That’s something Kim Roudenbush, McRae’s Project Coordinator, appreciates about our team: people who work hard to get things done and take pride in completing projects with quality and skill.

“The people here make it even better, with plenty of dry humor and dad jokes along the way!”

Outside of work, family is a huge part of Kim’s life. A former competitive athlete, she loves watching her kids discover their passions and encouraging them to work hard, strive for excellence, and go after what they want.

She and her husband still play sand volleyball together every week. They want their kids to see that challenging yourself, having fun, and enjoying what you love can go hand in hand.

Kim, you’re doing a great job—and that’s not just construction talk. Our appreciation is concrete! 😂

Meet Brad Jones, the newest member of the McRae team!

As McRae continues to grow, we’re grateful to add people who care about the work, the relationships, and the team behind every project. Brad recently joined us as a Project Manager, and he already feels right at home.

What stood out to him about McRae? The team culture, the variety of projects, and leadership that communicates openly and honestly.

For Brad, construction is personal. “There’s something special about driving past a building years later and knowing you had a hand in creating it. I also love that the work keeps you alert—no two days are exactly the same. But the best part is the relationships you build with clients, vendors, and everyone who helps bring a project together.”

We’re excited to have you with us, Brad. Welcome to the team!

A commercial property can check every box—and still be the wrong building.

The location works.
The access works.
The demand is there.

But what is the building telling you?

144 years ago today, workers gathered for the first Labor Day celebration.

On September 5, 1882, thousands marched through New York City in recognition of the value and dignity of work—and many gave up a day’s pay to be there.

No cookouts. No mattress sales. Not even a guaranteed day off.
Historians still debate whether the idea first came from a carpenter or a machinist. Either way, Labor Day began with working people who believed their contributions deserved to be recognized.

That belief still matters.

In construction, every completed project represents the effort of many people—from those planning and coordinating behind the scenes to those building in the field. Every role matters, and every person contributes to the finished result.

This Labor Day weekend, we’re grateful for the people whose skill, dedication, and hard work keep our projects, businesses, and communities moving forward.

From all of us at McRae Enterprises, thank you—and enjoy a well-earned Labor Day weekend.
