Since Florida weather likes to keep us on our toes, here’s a little Hurricane Prep 101: AC & Plumbing Edition from the Paradise Team!
⚠️First things first!⚠️ For the safety of our technicians, office staff, and customers, we’ll be pausing normal operations tomorrow, 10/9, and plan to resume Saturday, weather and road conditions permitting.
We’ll still be monitoring voicemails in the meantime, so give us a call and we’ll do our best to get a technician to you as soon as it’s safe to travel.
🌬️AC Tips
-Cool your home down a few degrees before the storm. Give your A/C a head start in case the power goes out!
-Clear loose foliage, furniture, and decorations from around your outdoor unit. Your patio furniture does NOT need a neighborhood tour! 😂
-If power starts flickering, turn your A/C off at the thermostat and breaker to help protect it from power surges.
-After the storm, check your outdoor unit for damage or flooding before turning it back on.
-If something sounds or looks “off” and gives you that “uh-oh” feeling, turn it off and give us a call.
🚫DO NOT run an HVAC system exposed to floodwater. SERIOUSLY. Let us handle that one.
🌊Plumbing Tips
-Check those sewer cleanout caps! Make sure they’re secure and ready to stay put when the rain rolls in.
-Keep water heater drain lines clear. A little prep now can help prevent a headache later.
-Have a gas tankless/ tank water heater? Take a peek at the flue and exterior vent cap to make sure they’re secure, and undamaged.
-Clear away loose items, debris, and anything that could become a wind-blown projectile aimed for your outside tankless unit (if you have one) and backflow devices, and make sure they are secured.
-Give a test run on your grinder pump before the storm hits.
🧡MOST IMPORTANTLY: STAY SAFE!💙
We Floridians have a pretty strong “I’ve seen worse” attitude. But please don’t go outside during dangerous conditions to check your A/C or plumbing.
Your equipment can wait.
Your house can wait.
You can’t.
Stay inside, stay informed, and give the storm the respect it deserves
From all of us at Paradise Home Services, stay safe, dry, and hurricane-ready!
We’ll be here when it’s safe to get back out there!
