Tired of grocery store lettuce?
Follow along as we see how quickly we can grow a 2’x4’ bed of greens from seed to harvest.
It’s August 18th and today we planted Lavewa spinach, Marvel of Four Seasons lettuce, and Lava Lamp lettuce. I refreshed an older metal bed with a bag of Espoma Land & Sea organic compost I’ll water twice today to ensure the seeds stay damp in our 90° heat.
Note, this bed only gets 5-6 hours of morning sun.

Want to get mad?
Want to get energized to grow more?
Want to understand better why you want to grow your own food?

This episode of The How I Grow This Podcast gives a refresher on chemicals to avoid and why. Did you order salad, a burrito, or hummus OR cancer, Parkinson’s, and hormone disrupters?

Personally, I need these reminders of why I do what I do. I need to remember that my family’s health is worth the time, effort, and money that a home garden entails.

Anyone can do this. Anyone, with a patch of sunshine can grow at least a little bit on their own and ANYONE can spend their food dollars on local food that is raised clean.

Did you know? Seed saving has so many benefits:
• Choose your favorites
• Improve your plants season by season
• Let you share your favorites
• Save money

When you grow a favorite flower, fruit or veggie, let a few stay on the plant and collect the seeds when they are dry.
