We believe modern architecture doesn’t have to be cold. Our Suburban Retreat project, celebrates the natural elements of the site and architecture’s ability to capture those elements to create outdoor connections.

It redefines the traditional ranch home through the plan’s organization: forcing the vehicle to the side yard, separating it from the major outdoor living spaces to create that strong sense of connection to the surrounding elements, while offering a strong sense of privacy from the neighboring homes.

Negative space. It’s the open area. It surrounds the things we design. Sometimes, negative space is intentional. It allows the things around it to breathe, to have space to shine, so they visually compete with surrounding elements.

It’s the reason something is “calm” or “serene”. It creates hierarchy for the eye. Without negative space, the eye jolts all around.

The plans may be printed, but the work of an architect carries on through construction, in the field.
