Exciting news for Nashville: Taxiway Lima is officially open at BNA!

Taxiways are basically the "roads" planes use to get from the runway to the gate and back again. As BNA keeps growing and welcoming more flights every year, adding taxiways like this one helps planes move around the airport more efficiently, cutting down on backups on the runway and keeping flights on schedule.

Our team has been out at the airport since January doing the electrical work that makes a project like this possible, running wiring and lighting underground and making all the final connections, all while making sure BNA never had to pause operations to get it done.

We're proud to have played a part in helping BNA keep up with Nashville's growth.

Another project powered by Stansell!

This Labor Day, we’re recognizing the electricians, linemen, and field crews who keep the lights on and the grid running. Skilled trades built this country’s infrastructure, and they’re still doing it every day.

At Stansell, our people are the reason we’ve been in business for 86 years. Thank you to every crew member, project manager, and support staff who shows up and does the work.

Happy Labor Day from all of us at Stansell Electric.

When a traffic signal mast arm was knocked down in a vehicle accident in Mount Juliet last Sunday, the Stansell Electric Transportation & Infrastructure Service Team was called to respond.

With the intersection serving as a key access point for West Wilson Middle School and Stoner Creek Elementary, restoring the traffic signal and pedestrian system before students returned Monday morning was critical.

Our team responded immediately and worked through the night to provide a temporary solution. The crew set a 40 foot wood pole, installed a span wire, and added two traffic signal heads, two pedestrian signals, and new pushbuttons to restore full functionality.

By 3:30 a.m., the intersection was back in operation, just hours before students arrived Monday morning.

While the temporary system keeps the intersection safely operational, Stansell is already working to procure and install a new upright and mast arm to return the intersection to its original design.

We’re proud of our Transportation & Infrastructure Service Team for answering the call, working Injury Free through the night, and helping keep our community moving when it mattered most.

Skilled Laborers are the ones who make everything else on a job site possible. 💪

Digging trenches. Pulling wire. Mounting raceways. Keeping tools, materials, and job sites running the way they should. It's physical, detailed work, done in the heat, on ladders, in trenches, but with a level of trust that says: get this right, because everything after it depends on it.

At Stansell, we know the crews who do this work aren't just filling a role. They're building toward something, licenses, certifications, careers that started with exactly this kind of hands-on grind.

To every Skilled Laborer on our team: we see the work. Thank you for doing it right, every single day.

We’re a construction company. But that’s not really the whole story.

This month’s Letter from the Marketing Desk digs into something that doesn’t show up in a jobsite reel, why Stansell has more office support than people expect from a company our size, and what that infrastructure actually does for our people.

Letter from the Marketing Desk 📝 Yes, we’re a construction company. But that’s not really the whole story. Part of my role is understanding how Stansell is perceived, whether that’s internally, within our industry, or by people encountering us for the first time. One thing that comes up: we...

September is National Su***de Prevention Month. In construction, that's not an abstract observance.

Construction has the highest su***de rate of any industry in the country, nearly five times higher than all other jobsite fatalities combined, according to the CDC. Long hours, physical strain, seasonal instability, and a culture that doesn't always make room to talk about struggling, all of it adds up.

We take that seriously. Stansell offers a licensed, on-site therapist, available to every employee at no cost. We also have an Employee Resource Center (ERC), a team dedicated to being there for our people during hard times. Employees are encouraged to reach out and be honest about what they're going through, and our leaders make it a priority to actually know their people, not just their job title, but what they're carrying. 💙

Mental health is Injury Free. Around here, people are treated like humans first.

If you or someone you know is struggling, the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 by call or text.

Every year, our team sets up the display lighting for the STEM Exhibit in the School House at the Tennessee State Fair, free of charge. 🎡

It's not the biggest job we take on, but it means something. It gives kids a hands-on look at what STEM can turn into, including trades like ours, right there in Tennessee's largest classroom.

We talk a lot about the workforce gap in this industry. This is one small way we try to do something about it: showing up early and making sure the exhibit is ready to shine when the next generation walks through the door.

Community isn't just where we work. It's who we're building for.

Already looking forward to next year's fair.

Throwback Thursday: August 1940

Ten dollars and seventy-five cents. That's what a plug, a screen door repair, and a few miscellaneous fixes cost, the year Stansell Electric got its start.

This is an actual invoice from that founding year, handwritten by James N. Stansell himself. Dated August 1, 1940, it billed the J.O.M. Woodward Estate for work done at their home on Carter Ave. Paid in full five days later, on August 6, 1940.

86 years and three generations later, the jobs have gotten bigger, but the way we approach them hasn't changed: show up, do the work right, and get it done.

Everywhere you look.

3:04 AM. That's the timestamp on a comms email sent by our crew last night, confirming a job was done, everyone was safe, and the site was secured before they headed home.

Night work is a different kind of demanding. Crews are out when most people are asleep, working in conditions daylight doesn't have to account for, and it's easy for small details to get lost in the exhaustion of a long shift. That's exactly why we don't let communication be one of them.

Before a crew leaves the jobsite after a night job, someone sends a message, so that when a supervisor wakes up, the first thing they see is confirmation: everyone's okay, the work is done, and there's nothing to worry about.

It's a small habit, but it eases a lot of minds. Supervisors don't have to wonder. Families don't have to wait. And crews know that closing the loop is just as much a part of the job as the work itself.

It's standard practice, but it's not something we overlook or take for granted.
