Safe digging starts with understanding what’s below, but having an 811 ticket is only the first step!
Before excavation begins, crews should verify that utilities have been marked, review the markings and ticket information, identify potential conflicts, and make sure everyone understands what is underground and where.

A ticket alone doesn’t make a jobsite safe. Awareness, communication, and careful planning help turn that information into safe work.

After a successful stop in the Nashville, TN office, continued its journey to Bowling Green, bringing another round of STCKY (Stuff That Can Kill You) training to our teams.

Across both events, employees came together to strengthen hazard recognition, learn from industry partners, and reinforce the safe work practices that help protect one another every day. Vendors shared their expertise and showcased equipment, while the afternoon gave everyone an opportunity to connect over great food, a little friendly competition, and, of course, another appearance from the dunk tank.

Congratulations to our Nashville, TN and Bowling Green, KY bucket game champions, and thank you to everyone who attended, our vendor partners, and the volunteers who stayed behind to help make these events a success.

We appreciate everyone who invested their time in learning, growing, and helping build an even stronger safety culture!

Extreme heat warnings are in effect across many of the areas where our Team Construction crews are working. As temperatures climb, taking a few extra precautions can help prevent heat-related illness.

Stay hydrated throughout the day, monitor your core body temperature, take time to cool down, and know the warning signs of heat illness. If you or a coworker begins experiencing symptoms, contact CORE immediately. Early intervention can help prevent heat exhaustion from progressing to heat stroke.

Heat safety starts with each of us. Stay alert, look out for one another, and make hydration and recovery a priority every day.

They say the best is saved for last!

Congratulations to our TN and KY teams for completing the final phase of the HeavyJob rollout.
From the beginning, the goal was to equip crews with the tools they need to work more efficiently through hands-on training, real-time demonstrations, and ongoing support from the Field Tool Implementation Team.

From faster job setup and time tracking to digital recordkeeping and offline access, HeavyJob was designed to help streamline the workday and improve visibility in the field.

Safe Digging Month is a reminder that protecting what’s underground starts with the choices we make every day, both on the jobsite and at home! On the job, taking the time to verify markings, respect the tolerance zone, and use the right excavation methods helps prevent damage and keeps crews moving safely.

Here are simple steps can make a big difference:
• Call 811 before any digging project
• Confirm all utility markings before starting work
• If markings are missing, unclear, or don’t match what you see, submit a second request to 811 before digging
• Hand dig within the tolerance zone
• Stay aware of your surroundings and communicate with your team

It’s about protecting utilities, preventing disruptions, and looking out for the people and communities around us.
