❄️ Alright, Craftsman family… this one is a little bittersweet.
Since there are some pretty big changes happening behind the scenes, it’s probably time I officially explain where we’re headed.
This winter, we will no longer be operating our snow and ice division under The Craftsman Plowing name.
Going forward, our snow operation has a new home:
❄️ 603 Snow & Ice ❄️
And before anybody gets nervous — The Craftsman isn’t disappearing, I’m not going anywhere, and we didn’t sell the snow business.
Actually, quite the opposite.
A little trip down memory lane…
Back in 2015, I decided I wanted to plow snow.
I had a Nissan Frontier, a very small plow, and about 30 customers.
That was pretty much the operation. 😂
No fleet. No sophisticated dispatch. No GPS tracking. No giant computer system.
Just a little truck, a plow, some very patient customers, and me trying to figure out how to beat a New England snowstorm.
Fast-forward more than a decade and that little customer list has grown roughly tenfold.
More customers meant more trucks.
More trucks meant more drivers.
More drivers meant more equipment, more logistics, more responsibility, more systems, and a whole lot more people trusting us to take care of their homes and properties.
And I genuinely love every second of it.
I love winter.
I love watching storms develop. I love the logistics. I love figuring out how to make the operation better. And I love taking care of the customers who have trusted us year after year.
I’d like to think that has always reflected in the way I’ve run this business — through communication, honesty, reliability, and treating our customers’ properties and investments like they actually matter.
None of that is changing.
So why 603 Snow & Ice?
Because sometimes two things happen at exactly the right time.
The Craftsman LLC is heading into a massive rebrand of its own. We’ve grown tremendously, and quite frankly, the original Craftsman branding isn’t completely representative of where the company is headed anymore.
At the same time, an opportunity came along to join forces with someone I know and trust — Rocky LeFort, owner of .
Rocky has spent years (even more than I) building his own local operation and doing exactly what I’ve been doing every winter.
So we looked at what each of us had built and basically said:
Why are we doing this separately?
Together, we’re bringing 30+ years of snow-removal experience, established customers, experienced operators, dependable equipment and roughly 20 trucks onto the road during a New England storm, backed by sanders, brine equipment, ice-management equipment, organized dispatch and a frankly unreasonable amount of technology for a business whose primary objective is moving frozen water from one side of your driveway to the other. 😂
And Rocky and I couldn’t be much more different.
I’m the good cop. He’s the bad cop. 😂
I’m the technology and systems guy.
Customer experience. Communication. Automation. GPS. Storm tracking. Organization.
If there’s a way to make something unnecessarily computerized, I’ve probably already done it.
Rocky?
He’s the get-it-done guy.
’Nuff said.
Crews. Equipment. Properties. Logistics. Ex*****on.
While I’m staring at six computer monitors trying to figure out where every truck is, Rocky is probably wondering why we’re having a meeting when there’s work to do. 😂
Those were our individual strengths running our own companies.
Now we’re putting them together.
Customer experience on one side.
Job-site ex*****on on the other.
Happy clients. Work done right.
Pretty simple.
And I really want you guys to check out what we’re building.
Please take a few minutes and go play around with our new website:
603snowice.com
Of everything I’ve built over the years — and I’ve built a lot of things — this website and the technology behind it are honestly some of the things I’m most proud of.
I didn’t want another contractor website with three pictures, a phone number and a Contact Us button.
We’re trying to build something I genuinely haven’t seen in this industry.
And don’t get it twisted:
It’s August. 😂 It’s still in development.
That’s intentional.
We have a few months to test it, break things, improve things and keep adding features before Mother Nature decides it’s game time.
But a lot of the cool stuff already works — and there is a lot more coming.
The goal behind all of it is simple:
Transparency. Accessibility. Accountability. Communication.
I want our customers to know what we’re doing, when we’re doing it, why we’re doing it and what’s happening with their property.
You shouldn’t have to wonder whether we’re coming.
You shouldn’t have to wonder whether your property was serviced.
You shouldn’t have to wonder what our plan is for an incoming storm.
And you definitely shouldn’t be chasing somebody around at 5:00 in the morning trying to get an answer.
We’re building systems designed to put that information at your fingertips.
So seriously — go play with it.
Check out the website. Explore the storm features. Talk to Nora. Request a quote. Click some buttons.
And if something breaks?
Congratulations. 😂
You just discovered why we’re testing it in August instead of during a nor’easter.
One important thing for existing Craftsman customers:
If you want service again this winter, please visit the new website and enter your information into the new system.
We’re starting fresh under 603 Snow & Ice so we can make sure we have current, accurate information for everybody.
It’s just as easy as last year — actually, I think it’s considerably easier — and once you’re in, we’ll take it from there.
And I have one little favor to ask.
The 603 Snow & Ice page is legitimately brand new.
As in… there’s not much there yet brand new. 😂
So if you’ve been a Craftsman customer over the years and we’ve earned your trust, we’d love it if you’d head over to the new 603 Snow & Ice page, give us a follow, and maybe leave us a review about your experience with us.
Absolutely no pressure.
But it would certainly help our brand-new page look a little less like two guys woke up three weeks ago, bought some plows on Marketplace and decided to take a crack at New England winter. 😂
Because that’s definitely not what happened.
And while I’m excited as hell about what’s coming, I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t a little bittersweet.
There are a lot of memories attached to The Craftsman Plowing.
There are customers reading this who were around when it was just me and that little Nissan Frontier.
There are people who have trusted us with their properties for many, many winters.
You’ve watched the trucks get bigger.
You’ve watched the fleet grow.
You’ve watched the operation evolve.
And you’ve helped build it.
So to every person who hired us, came back the following winter, referred a neighbor, left us a review, sent me a text after a storm, or simply trusted us to show up when the snow started falling:
Thank you. Truly.
This isn’t us walking away from what we built.
It’s what we built growing into something bigger.
The Craftsman Plowing name may be reaching the end of its run, but everything that made this operation successful is coming with us.
Same commitment.
Same obsession with winter.
Same belief that communication matters.
Same responsibility to take care of your property.
Now with more equipment, more people, more technology, more capability and a trusted partner beside us.
New name.
New season.
New technology.
Bigger operation.
Same standards.
And a whole new future.
The next chapter of our snow operation is 603 Snow & Ice. ❄️
Come see what we’re building.
And to everybody who helped take us from a Nissan Frontier and 30 customers to where we are today:
Thank you for one hell of a ride.
Now let’s see where we can take this thing next. 🚜❄️💪
