Pickleball Kingdom builds most of its locations inside refurbished buildings, which means ceiling height, wall proximity, and corner coverage are inherited rather than chosen. Those constraints drive real decisions. Fixtures too close to a wall create a hot spot, and the fix can be as specific as adding a dome or lens on some fixtures and not others. Karen's point about that is the one worth remembering. Nobody in the building is evaluating the ceiling. They're evaluating what the light does three feet above the court.

Mounting fixtures over the playing surface puts the light source directly in a player's line of sight on every lob and overhead. Moving the fixtures to the sides of the court removes the glare from the sky, which is the part players actually feel.

The tradeoff is that side mounting makes the foot candle math harder. Light no longer falls straight down onto the surface, so spacing, aiming, and mounting height have to do more of the work. For Pickleball Kingdom, that tradeoff was worth making, because glare in a player's eyes ruins a point in a way that a slightly harder design problem never will.

Siemens Energy was dealing with a common factory problem of outdated T5 fluorescent lights delivering only 40 foot-candles. This is well below the 50-60 foot candle recommendation for a safe, productive workspace.

The Facility Manager, Mark Phair, reached out to LED Lighting Supply seeking a lighting upgrade for the factory space.

The problem? Metal halide lighting simply won’t supply bright, uniform light for a functional warehouse. Siemens Energy needed a solution that would deliver 50+ foot-candles.

With the mounting height and layout already set, the challenge was clear: Deliver safe lighting levels across the entire warehouse.

What is the best solution for upgrading outdated metal halide loading dock fixtures, without complicating the install?

The Chicago Bears needed to upgrade three outdated metal halide fixtures at the south loading dock of their practice facility without a full replacement. LED Lighting Supply’s long-standing customer, Meade, was hired as the contractor and requested our support with the lighting for this project.

The Challenge:
Three metal halide lamps at a loading dock needed to be upgraded. The goal was low-maintenance, easy-to-install, and efficient lights with no unnecessary headaches.

A home improvement restoration store affiliated with Habitat for Humanity provides affordable donated furniture, appliances, and building materials to the public, with all profits supporting local affordable housing construction and repair.

As a non-profit, the facility needed a lighting solution that would enhance the shopping experience while also reducing ongoing energy costs.

They partnered with LED Lighting Supply to address the challenge.

The existing fluorescent system created dark zones, glare, and high operating costs. Working with lighting specialists, the facility upgraded to adjustable LED high bays paired with a custom lighting layout designed for uniform coverage across the sales floor.
