Professional Advice โ Locksmith & Security Solutions
Most Common Locksmith Calls
More than half of all locksmith calls are related to lockouts from homes or businesses. These situations are often caused by simple door k**b locks. People leave their property, press the button to lock the door, forget their key, and suddenly find themselves locked out. When a professional locksmith opens that door k**b lock in just a few seconds, property owners quickly realize how little real security it provides.
A door k**b should not be your primary line of defense. A deadbolt lock is far more effective for securing your home or business. Even better, consider installing a digital deadbolt lock. In my experience, the Schlage digital deadbolt offers excellent reliability. With this system, you simply replace the battery once a year, and your security is significantly improved. I strongly recommend these locks not only for private homes and businesses but also for rental units, as changing the code is simple and you can even set up temporary access codes for guests or emergency situations.
Professional Insight โ Why Security Matters More Than Ever
Inflation affects many aspects of our lives โ including security. During strong economic times, most people who wanted work could find it, and crime rates tended to be lower. But with rapid changes in technology โ AI, robotics, remote work, and the outsourcing of jobs abroad โ many people are now left without stable employment. Unfortunately, this often leads to higher crime rates.
I have been working in the security field since 1984, when I opened my first security equipment store in downtown Philadelphia. My special interest has always been locks and entry protection. After noticing that most break-ins happened through back doors, I developed a back-door protection system and a cross-lock security mechanism, for which I was honored with the Ben Franklin Technology Center Award in Philadelphia and a Nikola Tesla Gold Medal.
Every property is unique, and over time my work expanded into security inspections for insurance companies and banks. Later, I specialized in forensic locksmithing and founded a private investigative agency focused on post-burglary investigations and designing comprehensive prevention strategies.
Today, I proudly operate NLPD Locksmith & Security Inspection, where I also train individuals on how to respond to various security situations and how to protect themselves effectively. My goal is not to frighten anyone โ quite the opposite. The best-case scenario is that you never face a security incident. But if you do, being prepared can make all the difference.
