The farm I work at is not resigning the lease with our LLC owner. The emotional rollercoaster we are all on is vastly different.... This place gave a person like me living through periods of burnout a place I could be in nature all day, essentially have my own schedule, and make a decent wage considering the kind of work...a place where I got to befriend other people who even though were all very different all just fu***ng get eachother and have fun together. This farm was a major blessing in my life ....in all of our lives....there aren't words...I actually tear up thinking about losing this place...I've already almost cried talking about this with a fellow employee....knowing I can't just go back and visit it bc it won't be open as a farmstand anymore is heartbreaking ....

But now it leaves open a huge gaping hole of opportunity in my life. How do I fill the hole in the community I know we will miss and also do it the way I want to FINALLY?!?

I'm always dreaming and writing up dream goal business plans....and all signs from the universe and tarot (lol) point to something of this magnitude for me....but only if I make it happen!!!

So here's to spending my off season making plans and setting them in motion .

🚨 If you or anyone you know has 1 to 5 acres they may want to lease to a non-profit urban farm focusing on urban gardening/ agriculture, mini food forests, education, and wellness PLEASE CONTACT ME @ [email protected]

I planted this thornless blackberry and concord grape 2 years ago. This year is their first year fruiting 🥰

I've been slowly trying to add more fruit, perennial herbs, and natives that we can eat to our front yard. The more you can grow yourself, the better off we all are in the impending climate apocalypse. Not only can we feed ourselves, but we can trade with neighbors and help our community members who don't have access to growing food.

Bc I didn't realize I couldn't plant shrubs on our easement I have to move them both to the municipal part this late fall when they're dormant, but I'm kind of excited bc I think the grape will look really pretty on my more ornamental trellises.

I also have to move my native kiwi...that I still need a pollinator for 😂 🤦 I also plan on planting a ton of strawberries in the raised beds so the bugs eat them less.

Something I've come to realize more about myself and be validated more and more in this year is the slow and sustainable growth of my small business and my creative process. I am very much a visual and verbal processor, and but; I also need time to process all of the information and make sense of it, how I feel about it, what it means to me in the context of all the small details, but also the bigger picture.

This is the process I notice I am going through with my consultations, and why I structure and price them the way I do.

After I've walked your space with you, listen to your thoughts and ideas...I'll ask questions to understand your needs better or offer multiple solutions you might like, solutions to problem areas in your garden, take necessary measurements etc...its after I leave that my brain is actually able to make sense of everything I've seen and heard and in person problem solved...its rehashing the entire experience and conversation and making its own notes on other details I couldn't verbally process in the moment...i forget words all the time bc ADHD and sometimes I speak text thoughts to myself on the way home or make a ton of notes when I get home. I put a lot of thought, intention and sometimes research into making sure I'm not only designing a pretty garden, but an intentionally functional one.

I wanted to share with you all how a visual stuck in my head evolves from chicken scratch notes to a beautiful native garden design that is both intentional and functional (while also hiding a sump pump discharge pipe). This design will be a 3 phase installation.

A small preview of a consultation for an already stunning existing corner lot garden! She just needs a lil editing and redesign !

During our first visit, we're going to focus on thinning out a lot of black eyed Susan to clear a path that has long been hidden!

When it cools down later in the season and we can avoid plant damage due to heat, we are going to break up the solomons seal into a more organic and intentional wave throughout the bed and mirror some of it in other beds (as pictured). We will break up some of the geranium and create more intentional looking borders and mirror it in other places as well.

We will be trying to transplant most of the plants but anything we can't re-home is going to be given away to neighbors.

We will be adding some oak leaf hydrangea and ninebark shrubs to fill in spaces closer to the house and to blend in the shared property line with the neighbor (1st/2nd pictures).

This client already has and wants some of my favorite natives and Perennials! This is a garden with good bones that still requires creative design and functioning. I love projects like this!

Hello fellow plant lovers! I'm going to formally introduce myself here!

I'm Jenn and I moved to Naperville a few years back only 2 months before my 4 year old was born. I still don't know many people out here and would really love to connect with other nature nerds, moms, professionals and gardening groups!

I am a farmer and gardener by trade, and pivoted my small business from focusing on growing my own ornamental flowers to also including edible and native plants that help our local ecosystems thrive.

I am REALLY into native plants and sustainable gardening, edible gardens, pollinators, the mycellial network, I could go on (and I will if you let me)!

Also working on a FREE Roadside Seed Library and "Farmacy" for neighbors to partake in any harvest overflow.

Drop me a note! Let's make some tea and shoot the breeze

At Humble Home Gardens, I believe that nurturing a green space isn’t just about making your yard look pretty—it’s about creating a place to reconnect, decompress, and cultivate wellness.

My true passion is designing and arranging intentional, sustainable landscapes that work with nature, not against it. By focusing on low-maintenance Midwest natives and resilient perennials, we help you build a thriving pocket habitat that naturally suppresses weeds, retains moisture, and welcomes local pollinators—without demanding all of your free time.

If you are ready to invite nature into your everyday life across the Chicagoland area (Cook, DuPage, Will, and Kane counties), we have three unique ways to guide you:

🌱 1. Garden Consultation ($150.00)
A collaborative 1-on-1 walkthrough (in-person or virtual) where we talk through your space and goals.
You'll receive a detailed Written Summary and custom resources to confidently crush your DIY goals.

🌸 2. Custom Garden Design & Installation ($550.00)
A boutique, hands-off design experience. I assess your site's soil and sunlight, drawing up a bespoke blueprint and curated plant list focused on beautiful, easy-care perennials.

🍅 3. Raised Kitchen Garden ($2,950.00)
The ultimate farm-to-table experience. A locally built 3’× 4’ galvanized steel and premium cedar raised bed, densely planted using companion methods for a lush, maximalist veggie garden.

🌱Let's grow together 🌱

💌 Send me (Jenn) an email at [email protected] to request our full package details and inquire about availability.
