Since it began conception in 2002, the River Walk has seen the successful completion of all phases of the basic trail construction between Konehete Park and the Old L&N Depot, and now includes the Confluence Loop, Canoe Trails and a trail following the Valley River to Murphy High School. The volunteer project team has undertaken a host of ongoing and future maintenance, landscaping, and interpreti
ve and directional signage, and school class projects on the trail. The Murpy River Walk entered a new phase in 2023 with the Town of Murphy taking over maintenance and future improvments.
