Why Chickens & Native Plants?

I’ve been growing native plants for 7 years and propagate my stock from seeds and from liner nursery stock. I only grow native species. Natives are accustomed to the local environment and can handle pests and diseases without the need of introducing harmful chemicals. Our nursery offers a wide variety of beautiful native species perfect for your landscape. I have the plant to fill your niche.

Why chickens and native plants? I raise my chickens to feed my plants with natural compost. They give me hours of entertainment and lots and lots of rainbow eggs. My girls are spoiled and you can tell it by the quality and taste of their eggs.

My nursery and eggs are part of a lifelong passion. I was born and raised in the Western North Carolina mountains. I developed excitement as a kid for plants and the environment which led me to create my native nursery and offer fresh rainbow eggs. Native plants provide food and shelter for wildlife, thriving despite stressors of the environment and provide natural beauty. They withstand climate and disease stressors that exotic plants often need chemical treatments to survive. Chemical treatments can endanger valuable water resources, pollinators (bees, butterflies & hummingbirds) and even become a human health hazard.

Providing native plants and rainbow eggs to the Mountain Region is a family affair. My daughter and I lovingly care for our flock together and grow thousands of native plants for you to enjoy.
