That measurement might not include the A/C, vents, solar panels, antennas, or other equipment sitting on top.

Before designing an RV Cover, MaxSteel recommends measuring to your RV's highest fixed point and allowing approximately 3-5 feet of additional clearance for easier parking and room around rooftop equipment.
