If you've been around Rutherford County for a while, you might recognize the Goodwin name!

Today would have been Robert Goodwin's 104th birthday, and we wanted to take a minute to share a little family history.

Robert was the grandfather of Goodwin Plumbing owner John Goodwin, and he spent much of his life serving the people of Rutherford County. He worked for the Murfreesboro Police Department for 17 years, served as Director of Security at MTSU for 2 years, Rutherford County Sheriff for 6 years, and County Commissioner for 12 years.

And while John followed a different career path than his grandfather, that love for this community and the people in it is something that has stayed in the family.

For 19 years, Goodwin Plumbing has had the privilege of serving the same community that Robert dedicated so much of his life to.

To us, being a hometown business means more than just having a local address. It means taking care of your neighbors, building relationships, and being proud of where you come from.

We're thankful for the Goodwins who came before us, the community that has supported us, and the opportunity to carry on a family tradition of service. 💙

When we say the Goodwin Plumbing team will go to extreme depths to find and fix a leak… we mean it!

You turn on the tap and expect clean water, but have you ever thought about what keeps that water protected?

That’s where backflow prevention comes in.

Backflow can happen when water reverses direction in your plumbing system, potentially allowing contaminants to make their way into your clean water supply. A properly working backflow preventer helps keep that from happening, and regular testing helps make sure it’s doing its job!

At Goodwin Plumbing, we take water quality seriously. Our certified technicians are ready to handle your backflow testing, maintenance, and repair needs.

Because when it comes to the water your family, customers, or employees use every day, peace of mind matters.

9 things your plumber wishes you’d stop doing 👀🔧

Some of the most expensive plumbing problems start with everyday habits that don’t seem like much.

• Reaching for chemical drain cleaners
• Using toilet tank cleaning tablets
• Flushing wipes (yes, even the “flushable” ones)
• Pouring grease or paint down the drain
• Letting small leaks go
• Ignoring high water pressure
• Allowing hard water buildup to take over
• Washing pet hair, litter or gravel down drains
• Forgetting about your water heater until there’s a problem

A little prevention can save you from a much bigger repair later.

And when something doesn’t seem quite right, call Goodwin Plumbing. We’d much rather help you fix the small problem before it becomes the expensive one. 🔧

Want an easy way to change up the look of your kitchen or bathroom without a full renovation?

Change out the fixtures and faucets!

A new faucet, updated sink fixture, or modern finish can make a surprisingly BIG difference. Think brushed gold, matte black, polished nickel, or simply swapping out an older style for something fresh and current.

It’s one of those small updates that can instantly make the whole space feel newer.

And the best part? No demo required. Give us a call to set up a service call!

Your water heater works hard every day, give it a little maintenance in return. 💧

Over time, sediment and debris can build up inside the tank, making your water heater work harder and potentially shortening its lifespan.

An annual flush and service can help:
• Remove sediment buildup
• Improve efficiency
• Catch small issues early
• Help extend the life of your water heater

Flush it yearly. Protect it for years.
