You want a beautiful finished home. But you also want a great experience during the process as well.

After years of building custom homes, Lance and Sandy know there will be questions, decisions, changes, and plenty of conversations along the way. That’s why communication and trust are such an important part of how we build at Dabrowski Construction.

We want our homeowners to feel comfortable asking questions, know what’s happening with their home, and feel like they have the right people beside them throughout the process.

Because when you finally get the keys, we want you to love your home and feel good about how you got there. 🏡

If you were choosing a custom home builder, what’s one thing you’d want from them throughout the process?

Open concept has been popular for years, but would you still choose it today?

For a lot of families, the answer is yes, and it’s easy to understand why.

An open kitchen and living area lets everyone be together without actually doing the same thing. Someone can be cooking, the kids can be at the island, and everyone else can be in the living room without feeling separated.

It can also make the main living area feel larger and gives you more flexibility when you’re hosting family and friends.

But custom building isn’t about choosing something because it’s popular.

If you’d rather have a separate kitchen, quieter living room or more defined spaces, that’s worth considering too. The right floor plan is the one that works for your everyday life.

This Willowbrook home is a great example of how open-concept design can keep the kitchen and living spaces connected without losing their individual purpose.

We’re curious: are you still Team Open Concept, or are you ready for separate rooms again? Comment below!

A lot can change in just a few weeks.

Once drywall goes up, you stop looking through studs from one end of the house to the other. Suddenly there are actual rooms, hallways and spaces that feel the way they did on the plans.

That’s where this Northwest Indiana custom home is now.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but this is always a fun stage for us because you can finally start seeing the home.

Next come more of the details that really start giving the house its personality, and we’ll keep bringing you along as this one gets closer to finished. 🏡

Do you like seeing homes during construction or would you rather skip ahead to the finished reveal? Tell us what you like seeing the most!

It’s always exciting to finish a home we’re proud of.

It’s even more exciting to see that work recognized. 🙌

Two Dabrowski Construction homes have been featured in the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Distinctive Collection, and we’re pretty proud to see them there.

Every home we build has its own personality. Different homeowners, different ideas, different finishes and different details.

That’s one of the things we enjoy most about custom home building. We aren’t building the same home over and over again.

Seeing two of those homes highlighted is a great reminder of all the planning, craftsmanship and people that went into bringing each one together.

We’re grateful to everyone who had a hand in these projects and pretty excited to share this one!

After years of building homes, we’ve learned something that has stuck with us…

People remember how you treated them just as much as they remember the home.

Of course, craftsmanship is important to us. The details are important. The finished home is important.

But so do the phone calls, conversations, questions and decisions that happen before anyone gets the keys.

Building a custom home is a big investment, and for most families, it’s not something they do every day.

We know there will be questions. We know decisions can feel overwhelming. And we know communication can make a huge difference in how the entire experience feels.

That’s a big part of why we build the way we do at Dabrowski Construction.

At the end, we want our homeowners to love their new home, but we also want them to be able to look back and feel good about how they got there. 🤍

If you’ve built before, what made the biggest difference in your experience? Tell us below.

A staircase has a job to do, but that doesn’t mean it has to disappear into the background.

In this custom home, the staircase and accent wall create a feature you notice as soon as you step into the space. It’s a good example of why we think through more than just the main rooms when we’re building.

The kitchen matters. The primary suite matters. But so do the spaces that connect everything together.

Those details are what give a home personality and make it feel finished rather than simply built.

This Dabrowski Construction home is currently available in Northwest Indiana, and there are plenty more details throughout it worth seeing in person. 🏡

Would you make your staircase a statement or keep it simple? Tell us below.

By the time a custom home is ready, we’ve already walked through it more times than we can count.

We open cabinets.

We check drawers.

We test doors.

We look closely at finishes.

We pay attention to the little details because they’re the ones homeowners notice long after move-in day.

For us, the walkthrough isn’t about finding perfection. It’s about making sure every home meets the standards we expect before we hand over the keys.

It’s one more way we stand behind the homes we build throughout Northwest Indiana.

The little things matter because they become part of someone’s everyday life.

What’s one detail you always notice when you walk through a home?

Lighting is one of those details people don’t always think about until they walk into a finished home.

The right fixture can completely change how a room feels. It can make a space feel warmer, brighter, more inviting, or even become the feature everyone notices first.

When we’re building custom homes, we encourage homeowners to think about lighting as more than just something that helps you see.

It’s part of the home’s personality.

From statement fixtures over the island to bathroom sconces and hallway lighting, every selection plays a role in bringing the design together.

It’s one of those details that may seem small during the building process, but you’ll appreciate it every single day. 💡

Which room do you think deserves the best lighting in a home?

The Willowbrook home has reached the stage where the layout starts feeling much more real.

The drywall is up, windows and doors are installed, and the rooms are no longer just open framing. You can walk through the home and get a much better sense of the size, flow, and how each space connects.

This is also when homeowners often begin picturing furniture placement, how they will move through the kitchen, and what each room will feel like once the finishes are added.

There is still plenty of work ahead, but this stage makes the progress much easier to see.

We will keep sharing updates as this Schererville custom home moves closer to the next phase.

Which space would you want to walk through first: the kitchen, living room, or primary suite? What do you want to see more of? 🏡
