Are we bringing these warmer colors back? Because we’re here for it. 🤎

The whites, beiges, browns, and warmer finishes throughout this home give it such a comfortable feel. Nothing is competing for attention, but the different tones keep the rooms from feeling flat.

For years, we’ve seen a lot of bright white interiors and cooler gray finishes. And while those can still look beautiful, there’s something about bringing a little warmth back into a home.

You don’t necessarily need bold colors to make a room feel inviting.

Sometimes it’s the warmer wood tones, softer whites, creamy cabinetry, or the way different neutral shades work together.

That’s one of the things we enjoy about custom home design. Every homeowner has their own preferences, and the finishes they choose can completely change the personality of a space.

This Northwest Indiana home is a great example of how beautiful a warmer color palette can be.

Do I need to own land before I talk to a builder?

Nope.

In fact, talking with your builder before buying a lot can be really helpful.

The land you choose can affect the type of home you build, where it sits, the driveway, utilities, site work and even parts of the floor plan. A lot that looks perfect at first glance may have things you’ll want to understand before making it yours.

At Dabrowski Construction, we can talk through what you’re looking for, what you hope to build and what to consider while looking at lots in Northwest Indiana.

And sometimes, we may already have available lots that fit what you have in mind.

So if “we don’t own land yet” is the thing keeping you from starting the conversation, it doesn’t have to.

This home in The Preserve has been thoughtfully planned from the first floor up.

The primary suite is on the main level with a large walk-in closet and laundry connected right where you need it. The kitchen opens into the great room with a large island, generous pantry and wood floors running through the main gathering space.

There’s also a first-floor office with closets that gives you some flexibility if you need another bedroom or guest space.

You can build a beautiful house.

But it’s the details that start making it feel like your home.

9944 Corydalis is such a good example of that. 🏡

As a build gets closer to being finished, you start noticing all the decisions that were made along the way, the finishes, textures, trim, lighting and little design choices that give each room its own personality.

Some are things you notice immediately.

Others are the things you appreciate more after you’ve lived there for a while.

That’s one of our favorite parts about building custom homes in Northwest Indiana. Even when we build in the same neighborhood, no two homes have to feel exactly alike.

There are a lot of homes behind this picture.

But there are also years of work, long days, lessons learned, relationships built and a whole lot of people who have trusted us along the way.

Lance and Sandy have built Dabrowksi Construction around something pretty simple: build homes they’re proud to put their name on and treat people the way they’d want to be treated.

That means being involved. Answering the questions. Walking the job sites. Working through the decisions. And caring about what happens between the first conversation and the day the keys are handed over.

Building custom homes throughout Northwest Indiana has given us the chance to meet so many families, work alongside some incredibly talented trades and partners, and watch ideas on paper become places where people actually live their lives.

That’s something we never want to take for granted.

We’re incredibly grateful for what this business has grown into, and even more grateful for everyone who has been part of it. 🤍

A few weeks later and we’re still thinking about some of the appliances we saw at ABT’s Night of Inspiration. 😍

It was an incredible event. Packed with people, beautiful displays and so many high-end appliances to see in person.

And when you build custom homes, nights like this are more than just looking at beautiful kitchens.

We’re always paying attention to what’s new, what homeowners are asking for and which features could actually make sense in the homes we build throughout Northwest Indiana.

Some appliances have become such a big part of kitchen design that they can influence cabinetry, layout and how the entire space comes together.

We definitely left with a few favorites and plenty to talk about afterward.

This is NOT what 932 Willowbrook looks like anymore. 👀

This was when the drywall had just gone up and the rooms were finally starting to take shape.

Fast-forward a few weeks, and we’ve had a whole lot of flooring going in.

It’s one of those stages in a custom home build where the look of the house can change pretty quickly. Once you start adding flooring, cabinetry, trim and finishes, all those decisions that were made months ago finally start showing up in the actual rooms.

And 932 Willowbrook is definitely getting there.

We’ll show you the new flooring soon, but first, we want to know what you’d pick.

A custom home doesn’t go from plans to move-in day in a few weeks.

There are a lot of stages, and even more people, behind what you eventually see finished.

Excavation, concrete, framing, roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, cabinetry, flooring, paint, trim… and that’s still not every person who has a hand in it.

Some days the progress is obvious. Other days, important work is happening behind the walls where you’ll never see it again.

That’s why we appreciate the crews, trades, partners and people who show up throughout every Dabrowski Construction build. Each one plays a part in getting that family closer to home. 🏡
