What an incredible morning.

Our Vice President, Melissa Dorsey, had the opportunity to spend time with the Michigan Westshore team, Kathy and Jen, along with the talented Ball Seed team—Landon, Jamie, Emily, and Marcus.

Having such experienced horticultural professionals visit and review the plantings Woodlawns has created was truly an honor. Together, we toured several of our downtown Chicago properties, all within a few city blocks, including Roosevelt Collection Shops, Roosevelt Collection Lofts, AMLI 900, Grand Central, The Elle, AMLI Lofts, River City Apartments, and 1000 S. Clark. We explored each site on foot, including some spectacular rooftop sky decks.

One thing that makes horticulture so rewarding is that we’re always students of our craft. We study how plants are used, how they grow, how they perform throughout the seasons, and how they complement one another. Those extra observations, conversations, and field visits are what help us continually improve and ultimately provide better service for our clients.

I was humbled and grateful to spend the morning with such a knowledgeable, welcoming group of professionals who all share the same goal: creating the most beautiful seasonal color displays throughout Chicagoland and beyond.

Since 2015, Woodlawns Landscape Company has had the privilege of bringing seasonal color, exceptional maintenance, and landscape enhancements to OneEleven —one of the most iconic buildings on wacker drive, proudly managed by Bozzuto .

Over the past 10 years, we’ve completed more than 45 seasonal rotations and created over 60+ unique seasonal color and holiday displays, each one thoughtfully designed to evolve with the seasons. Every installation has been an opportunity to learn, create, refine, and deliver some of the most striking seasonal color in chicago.

This level of success is only possible because of true partnership. The incredible management team at bozzuto and their commitment to consistent watering - (shout out to Mario) and care allow every planting to thrive long after installation. Together, we’ve built something we’re incredibly proud of.

Yesterday, as i was driving by the property, I couldn’t help but make a u-turn just to stop and admire the gardens and capture these photos. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing months of planning, design, and hard work come to life exactly as intended.

Thank you to the team at bozzuto for your continued partnership and for trusting woodlawns landscape with such an incredible canvas year after year. We look forward to creating many more seasons of unforgettable color together.

a great day in the city with the woodlawns account management team at chicago’s iconic one chicago building.

our account manager, Justine, led a behind-the-scenes tour of the property and its recent landscape updates. After significant winter dieback in the boxwoods, Justine and the One Chicago team collaborated on a new plant palette built to better handle chicago’s harsh winters.

The result is a layered, textural mix of aronia, hydrangea, Karl foerster grasses, and limelight hydrangeas—bringing fresh life to the property with durability in mind.

Days like this go beyond plants. they’re about training, collaboration, and understanding the complexity of managing landscape accounts in the city.

Every site comes with its own microclimates, access challenges, and logistics—from parking and loading zones to freight elevators and building coordination. nothing is as simple as just showing up and installing.

We stepped out of the office to learn together, share ideas, and experience the work firsthand on an incredible account.

Grateful to our clients for their trust and partnership, and for the opportunity to work on impactful projects across chicago.

on The Magnificent Mile went old school with seasonal color and let the plants do the talking. Inspired by the twists and turns of ribbon candy, layers of lush lime greens, purples, pinks, and punches of color move through the beds in a rhythm that mirrors the straight lines and patterns of the iconic mag mile.

Because great beds shouldn’t be one note. They should have flow. They should have movement. They should connect to the architecture, the streetscape, and the energy around them.

The design carries the eye down the entire city block, while two oversized planters serve as the exclamation points at either end.

No gimmicks. No overcomplication. Just thoughtful seasonal color, strong design, and a whole lot of plants showing off.
