Hey, everyone! It's been a minute. Since my last post (almost four years ago!), I've gone back to school, earned a master's degree, and started teaching school. It's been great, but I have missed my time and experiences as "The Moville Plant Lady." I'm not yet in a place to be able to commit myself to a regular farmer's market schedule, or the time commitment that comes with preparing for a farmer's market on a weekly basis, but I would like to start sharing some of my adventures and experiences with gardening (and other activities) again. And who knows, maybe I'll get back doing the farmers market thing sooner than later. Until then, I'm going to work really hard at blooming where I'm planted, whatever season of life I find myself in, hence the name change to Root & Bloom.

Today is the Made + Found Midwest Market! Many of our vendor friends from the Moville Farmer's Market will be there. You’re definitely going to want to check out this fun, new market to get the best locally made and grown goods around!

Another beautiful August morning out at The Meadows C.C Flower Patch. We’re open until noon this morning, Wednesday 6-8pm, and Friday 9am-noon. Come and pick some of these gorgeous, late-summer flowers—you won’t regret it. 😍💐

Good morning, garden friends!

Someone once said that “gardening is the slowest of the performing arts”. Gardening is (obviously) one of my passions, but so are the other performing arts! Whenever I hear about an opportunity to participate in something theatrical or musical, especially in or close to my community, and double especially if it’s an opportunity for our kids to have a quality performing arts experience, I’ve just got to share it!

Starting this fall, Briar Cliff University is offering a Homeschool Choir for students ages 10 and up! This is such an incredible opportunity for kiddos to have a fun, well-rounded, and truly enjoyable music experience. Brian is a fantastic human being who is passionate about music and works wonderfully with kids. You’re definitely going to want to take this opportunity if you are a homeschooler.

If you don’t homeschool but know someone who does, please feel free to share this with any homeschooling friends that may be interested, as well!

The Meadows C.C Flower Patch is open this morning until noon! What a lovely morning to come up and explore the garden and pick some beautiful flowers.

Did you know that bumblebees will sometimes fall asleep in flowers? I came across one this morning taking a snooze in a cosmo! 🐝

Another fun fact: did you know that ants farm aphids because they are so delicious? We have a few dahlia plants up here that have turned into aphid farms! It keeps the ants happy and keeps the aphids off of all the other plants. 🐜👨🏻‍🌾

Who knew when you came to The Flower Patch that there’s be more than just flowers to discover? 👩🏻‍🌾💐🐝🐜😍

Lots of fresh cut, Moville-grown flowers at the Moville Farmer's Market this evening! Come grab some blooms, produce, baked goods, and other goodies tonight at the Main Street Pavilion from 4:30-6:30pm. There will be a free-will donation dinner from 5-6:30pm, the Shriner’s Parade at 6:30pm, and an ice cream social following the parade. Lots of fun to be had tonight in Moville!! 😍💐🍅🥬🍞🧁🧶
