Notes on the 2026 season.

It was our 22nd year making syrup. We boiled nine times and this year’s total was 16.65 gallons. A new record.

Reverse Osmosis is a game-changer. IYKYK. We only used 2/3 usual wood supply.

We had a 34” record snowfall a few days after we tapped. We tapped on dry land, but most of the sap collection was on snowshoes.

The season went nice and long. Our last boil was 4/12 and I probably dumped 80 gallons of sap. The river is high and loud-but you can still hear the peepers in the pond-a sure sign maple season is done.

After a false spring, this looks like the real start to the season on Tues/Weds. I’ll be up to tap next Wednesday. Mother Nature is a trickster, but it looks like a pretty normal season forecast.
