Mosquitoes aren’t just a nuisance; they’re a serious public health threat. Vector-borne diseases like West Nile virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, and dengue continue to persist in the United States.

In Idaho, human cases of West Nile virus have occurred every year since 2005. Our program monitors for and responds to West Nile virus transmission in local mosquito populations through mosquito control efforts.

Individuals are encouraged to also protect themselves from biting mosquitoes by wearing long sleeves and pants, using insect repellants, and limiting standing water that produces mosquitoes.

It’s time for yesterday’s threat to meet today’s solutions.
