🎉THANK YOU to our Sponsors!🎉

The CMSC Chair-ity Auction is Friday, October 16 at the Children’s Museum, and is made possible by the support of community sponsors like HKP Architects! Without them, we couldn’t focus on our mission to create a place where children learn through play and exploration in environments designed just for them.
From interactive play, camps, classes and community events to supporting families through the Scholarship Program and the Help Me Grow-Skagit Family Resource Center, the Children’s Museum is a place for all families.

Come play at our house and support children and families in our community!

From building staircases to celebrating 100 years of learning, the HKP team was busy from dawn to dusk in the community last weekend!

We were honored to lend a hand to Skagit Habitat for Humanity for their 2026 Women Build event (Karyn learned how to use power tools!). Then we got all dressed up to celebrate Skagit Valley College's Centennial Gala and a century of education and community impact throughout the Skagit Valley. We're forever grateful to be a part of a community that builds, learns, and grows together.

Old building materials are new again at HKP! Our recent project at Edmonds Elementary School was a new mass timber covered play structure featuring glue-laminated beams and Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) panels. Similar to, but distinct from, last year’s steel structure, this is our first CLT project, and it's been exciting to watch it come together.

Thanks to the experts at Howard S. Wright, the glulam beams and CLT panels were installed at impressive speed (a little slower than video though), including this monumental panel lift. We’re looking forward to seeing this beautiful structure in use and hope it inspires their students!

A very special thank you to the Edmonds-Woodway High School Pep Band for their rendition of Also sprach Zarathustra (best known as the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey).

HKP Architects recently developed a long-range plan for this Agate Bay property that improves accessibility and functionality, while modernizing the home and preserving its connection to the beautiful Lake Whatcom setting. Design goals include aging-in-place features, a new all-weather sunroom, reorganized exterior decks and patios, and a renovated garage ADU designed for greater comfort and usability.

After 10 years at HKP, Austin Miles is transitioning from the world of architecture to construction, taking a new Project Engineer position with TRICO Companies, LLC. He is a dedicated, passionate team member who brought so much to HKP and our clients. We will miss him deeply and wish him all the best in this new venture!

Congratulations, Austin - and remember, the coffee is always on here for a visit.

HKP is proud to be partnering with TRICO Companies, LLC and Skagit Gleaners on a feasibility study that supports the organization's growing food security mission.

By addressing the aging infrastructure, limited parking, and operational challenges, this study lays the foundation for a more modern, efficient facility that will help Skagit Gleaners meet the needs of our community for years to come.

HKP has kicked off the Lopez Island Library Reroof project with a site visit to this beloved local institution.

HKP's Becca and Kelly soaked in the island sun while verifying existing conditions, reviewing roofing transitions, and assessing roof and site access. We love San Juan Islands projects!

HKP had the honor of designing this thoughtfully crafted custom home located above Padilla Bay in the idyllic town of Bay View. The owners were ready to downsize into an age-in-place home without sacrificing their beautiful views, comfort, or connection to the landscape. This space was designed not just to live in, but to thrive in for decades to come. From preserving a mature tree and views of the iconic church alongside prioritizing energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and accessibility, every detail was carefully considered.

HKP is thrilled to be working with the Historic Downtown Chelan Association to develop conceptual designs for the alley between Woodin Avenue and PUD's Chelan Riverwalk Park. The designs will focus on making this critical connector safer, more visually appealing, and reflective of the area's rich history and culture. The work follows on the heels of the Historic Downtown Revitalization Plan with Beckwith Consulting Group, and is intended to coordinate with the City's Lift Station construction project happening in the alley this fall.

Stay tuned for updates!
