Felt that this morning?

Coldest morning of the season so far. Heating bills are about to start showing up, and for some folks around here that’s a real worry.

That’s who this giveaway is for. We’re sending Tom out with up to 120 gallons of kerosene, delivered and pumped right into one lucky household’s tank. Know someone in W**d, Mount Shasta, Dunsmuir, or McCloud who could use it? Nominate them. Nominate yourself if that someone is you.

Two weeks left. Nominations close Tuesday, October 27.

If you haven’t wandered the Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens yet, you’re missing one of the best spots in Siskiyou County. Big trees, the Sacramento River rolling right past, and trails that make you forget you’re five minutes off the freeway. It’s a gem, and it runs on volunteers and community support.

This Saturday, October 17, they’re throwing their Oktoberfest fundraiser right there in the gardens. Live music from Scott Joss and the Side Men, Dunsmuir Brewery Works b**r, a German buffet by Cornerstone, and a costume contest if you’ve been waiting for an excuse to wear the lederhosen.

Tickets are $30 at the Pizza Factory in Dunsmuir or Mount Shasta, or online until 5 PM Friday. $35 at the door. A shuttle runs from the Dunsmuir Community Building.

Good b**r, good cause, best backyard in the county.

Who should he visit? Nominate someone in W**d, Mount Shasta, Dunsmuir, or McCloud who could use a warmer winter. Yourself included.

Happy birthday to Miller!

Miller has spent six years climbing through attics and crawling under houses so you don't have to. He's been keeping Siskiyou County warm in the winter and cool in the summer the whole time. If he's been out to your place, you already know the kind of work he does.

Today we celebrate him instead. Thanks for everything you bring to this team, Miller.

Drop him a birthday wish in the comments!

A few weeks ago we got excited about the El Niño forecast. NOAA is calling for a very strong one this winter, and Shasta could get buried.

Here's the other side of that. Big wet snow sits on branches, branches come down on power lines, and the whole road goes dark. Anyone who's lived here a few winters has sat through one of those nights.

This is a good year to be the house on the road with the lights on.

A Kohler standby generator senses the outage and starts on its own within seconds. Your well keeps pumping, your furnace keeps running, and your freezer stays cold. You can watch the snow come down instead of watching the clock.

Installs take time, and every storm that rolls through brings more calls. Get on our schedule before the snow does. 530-918-5547.
