Some homes are designed for how they look.
Others are cared for long after they’re built.

This Sullivan’s Island residence reflects both—
crafted with intention from the start and managed with a level of care that doesn’t wait for the season to change.

And as it enters the market, it stands as a quiet example of what it means to build—and maintain— at the highest level along the Charleston coast.

We build. We care.

Progress across a few of our current homes.

Each phase looks a little different,
But the goal is the same—keep things moving and keep it right.

We have a strong team across all of these, making sure each step is handled the way it should be.

The right team doesn’t happen by accident.

Every person we bring in is expected to think ahead, communicate clearly, and care deeply about the details—both seen and unseen.

Jean’s path into construction started with design.

After studying interior design in Virginia, what drew her in wasn’t just the creative side—it was the process of watching something on paper become something real.

A plan becoming a space.
A house becoming a home.

Over the years, that perspective has evolved into something even more valuable:

A deep understanding of both the client experience and the ex*****on behind it.

As the owner of her own design business and through years of working alongside builders, trades, and homeowners, Jean has built her career around relationships, trust, and delivering projects that truly reflect how people live.

But what sets her apart is her attention to detail.

On site, she’s known as the “blue tape queen”—someone who sees the inch others might miss, and makes sure it’s right before it ever becomes a problem.

Because in construction, small details don’t stay small.

They show up later.

They affect how everything else comes together.

And getting them right the first time matters.

For Jean, the most rewarding part of any project isn’t just a finished home—

It’s the experience along the way.

Making sure clients feel taken care of.
Making sure challenges are handled thoughtfully.
And making sure the end result feels exactly as it should.

Relationships, details, and experience—exactly what our projects demand.

This home on Sullivan’s Island is a good example of how we think about coastal home building and home management in Charleston—from the first day on site to long after completion.

We built this custom home with the Lowcountry environment in mind—
knowing it would face salt, air, humidity, and whatever the season brings.

But what makes it work just as well now…
is how it’s cared for.

This home is still under our watch Nautilus Home Management | Charleston SC, and the homeowner opted into our hurricane preparation program—
Which really just means we stay ahead of things, instead of reacting later.

Because the reality is, most issues we see during storms aren’t major mistakes, they’re small things that get missed over time.

So here, that looks like:
• Walking the property and securing anything that could shift in high winds
• Making sure drainage is doing what is supposed to do
• Keeping an eye on seals, doors and windows before they’re tested
• Managing humidity inside, especially when the home sits empty
• And after any storm, completing a full post-storm home inspection

Nothing complicated.
Just consistent attention to the details that matter.

It works well because it’s all connected—
How the home was built, and how it’s maintained overtime.

And for coastal homes in Charleston, that combination makes all the difference.

We’re growing—intentionally.
And that means being thoughtful about every person we bring in.

Some people find construction.
Others grow into it.

Michael’s story started in a small mountain town in North Carolina—helping renovate and operate a boutique hotel that needed new life.

What began as an opportunity…
Quickly turned into something more.

Project by project, his interests deepened.
His understanding sharpened.
And overtime, construction became more than a job—it became a craft.

Today, with over 8 years of experience, managing complex, residential and commercial buildings, Michael brings a mindset we value deeply :

Assumptions are expensive.

Clear communication.
Detailed planning.
Strong alignment between client, architect, and builder.

Because when those pieces are right—The entire experience changes.

For Michael, the most rewarding moment isn’t just finishing a home.

It’s watching a client walk through the door
and knowing everything came together the way it should.

We’re proud to have him on our team.

There are very few places where you can watch the sunrise over the ocean… And the sunset over the Intracoastal.

This home on Sullivan’s Island was designed to take full advantage of that rare setting.

Every room opens with intention.
Each bedroom has his own porch—quiet spaces for coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at the end of the day.

At the center of the home, the outdoor living spaces were designed for gathering. A pool for long afternoons, an elevated plunge pool for cooling off, and covered areas that offer relief from the sun—all of it usable year-round with heated systems in place.

Homes like this aren’t just built for how they look.
They’re built for how they live.

And just as importantly, how they’re cared for.

From construction through ongoing home management, this property reflects a shared standard—thoughtful design, careful ex*****on, and long-term stewardship.

Interior progress at our Daniel Island home is well underway.

With structural framing complete, the home has moved into the interior finish phase—where the craftsmanship begins to take shape.

Ceiling beams are now being installed, establishing the character and scale of the main living spaces. Our finished carpentry team is also working through the trim package, installing door and window casings along with the architectural millwork that will carry throughout the home.

At the same time, the wood ceiling installation is underway—a detailed process that adds warmth, depth, and texture to the interior spaces.

This stage of construction requires careful coordination between teams and trades, with every installation setting the foundation for the finishes that will follow.

Steady progress on Daniel Island as the home continues to take shape!

Some homes are beautiful.

Others feel personal the moment you walk in.

This Captains Island residence on Daniel Island was designed as the perfect blend of casual Lowcountry, living and meaningful detail. Every space invites gathering — easy, comfortable, unforced.

The reclaimed wood ceiling in the stairwell tells part of the family story, sourced from their own barn and built into the heart of the home.

The media room showcases and extensive guitar collection, turning a lifelong passion into a focal point.

And outdoors, the home truly comes alive — a built-in pizza oven, two fireplaces, and multiple seating areas layered intentionally for relaxed, entertaining that stretches well into the evening.

This is what happens when a home reflects the people who live in it.

Last week, our teams from Phillip Smith General Contractor and Nautilus Home Management were in Orlando for and we’re walking away, both inspired and grateful.

Grateful for the relationships.
Grateful for the conversations.
Grateful to work in an industry that values craftsmanship and continuous improvement.

We spent time on the show floor together, connected with longtime partners, and had meaningful conversations about where our industry is headed.

One highlight was spending time with Jonathan Scott at the Andersen event. We also caught up with our Southern Lumber window team during the Andersen celebration—partnerships like these are a big part of how we serve our clients well, from initial build through long-term home management.

Sitting in on the Curious Collective panel discussion at Emser Tile was a powerful reminder that focus and clarity matter—whether we’re building a custom home or caring for one years later.

For Phillip Smith, it’s about building with intention.
For Nautilus, it’s about protecting that investment.

Two teams.
One standard.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn, strengthen relationships, and bring that value back home to the families we serve.
