“Ready for rebuild” should mean the work is actually complete.

An insurance company’s preferred vendor billed for sanding and HEPA vacuuming at this property and declared it ready for rebuild three months ago.

When Minorik Mitigation began working in this area, this is what we found. The lighter section shows OUR sanding efforts. The darker section shows the condition they claimed was completed. That visible difference raises serious questions about the work previously billed as complete.

The prior contractor had already been paid. Yet here we are, addressing work that should have been completed before rebuilding began.

Being an insurance company’s “preferred vendor” does not automatically guarantee quality workmanship. Homeowners deserve completed work, documentation, and accountability—not just an invoice marked paid.

Minorik Mitigation is a small, independent company. We take pride in doing the work we bill for and documenting what we accomplish.

We may not be the cheapest. Proper labor, attention to detail, and taking the time to finish the job all have a cost. This photo shows why those differences matter.

At Minorik Mitigation LLC, we’re willing to pay experienced technicians what their skills and performance are worth. Higher pay comes with dependable attendance, punctuality, quality workmanship, and the ability to finish jobs efficiently within reasonable timelines.

We need people who step up for our rotating on-call schedule, travel when needed for national disaster response, and keep building their knowledge and certifications.

Starting pay is $18/hour. Where you go from there depends on what you demonstrate. Meeting the basics earns starting pay. Greater skill, responsibility, and consistent results earn more. Failing to meet expectations can cost you the position.

“I’ve never had water in my basement.”

That’s what the homeowner told me when I asked during an inspection for a potential buyer. He crossed his arms as he said it, and I thought, Okay, let’s take a look.

I’ve been inspecting water damage for about 15 years. Basements have a way of telling their own stories.

The workbench legs had water lines. A cardboard box across the room had water marks. There was evidence on the floor, too. And a box in the back bedroom? It was still wet.

Now, I can’t tell you exactly when the water got in or what the homeowner knew about it. But I can tell you the basement and I were having a very different conversation than the homeowner and I were. 😂

That’s why buyers get inspections. The clues matter, even when the answer is, “Never.”

Today, we commenced a new project, where a homeowner, returning from winter, discovered significant water damage and mold in their basement. Prior to identifying the source, the city shut off the main water supply. Our team was tasked with locating and capping the broken water lines. Notably, Cole learned that even with the main water supply turned off, residual pressure in the lines may still exist. As his supervisor, I allowed him to discover this important lesson through hands-on experience as you can see in the second video.

Revisiting our Wednesday post... We cautioned the client that a budget-friendly approach may not yield optimal outcomes. As evident, the staining is noticeably lighter, if not entirely eliminated. While we still do not recommend the budget option, it has met the homeowner's expectations, which is our top priority.
