ADU's come in all sizes. They reflect many scenarios and opportunities.
From practical renovations to luxury living spaces, accessory dwelling units (ADUs) can take many forms depending on a homeowner's needs, budget, and goals. Beyond adding usable space, ADUs provide homeowners with supplemental rental income, accommodate internal/extended family needs while increasing long-term property value.
In Cortlandt, NY, an existing basement was transformed into an ADU through New York State's income-based Plus One ADU Program. With $125,000 in grant funding available, the majority of the renovation costs were covered, leaving the homeowner with a relatively small investment to create a new rental unit and an opportunity for ongoing supplemental income.
In Pound Ridge, NY, an entirely different vision of ADU living comes to life. This luxurious 1,047-square-foot residence goes well beyond the traditional idea of an accessory dwelling unit, offering the design, finishes, and comfort of a high-end home. Beyond its elevated living experience, the space also represents a long-term investment, creating opportunities for rental income, multigenerational living, and generational wealth.
Two very different projects, each demonstrating how ADUs can provide homeowners with new opportunities to generate income, meet family needs, leverage the potential of their property, and build long-term value.
