Before anyone talks about plants or stone, we read the water. Where does it come off the roof, where does it go once it hits the ground, and where does it stop moving.
That one question decides almost everything else. Bed placement, whether a patio needs a drain, how a wall gets backfilled, even which plants will survive in a given corner.
Design that ignores water looks great in year one and fails in year three.
