⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What actually earns one of these?

Your last cut of the season matters more than the first one. 🌱

Going into winter too long invites matted grass and snow mold under the first heavy cover. Going in scalped leaves the crowns exposed. Drop the deck gradually over the final few mows and finish a touch shorter than your summer height.

Small thing. It is the difference between green in April and patching in April.

Where do all the leaves actually go? 🍁

Some crews blow them into the back beds and call it a cleanup. It looks tidy for about three weeks. Then the layer mats down, holds moisture against the crowns of your perennials, and you spend spring wondering why half the bed came back thin.

We haul. Beds get cleared, edges get cut back, and what stays behind is a controlled amount of mulch rather than a wet blanket.

Saturated soil behind a wall pushes with enormous force, and that pressure is what makes stone lean, bulge and eventually walk out of line. The fix is invisible once we backfill: clean gravel behind the face and a drain that gives the water somewhere to leave.

It is the part of the job nobody photographs and the only part that decides whether the wall is standing in twenty years.

Ever notice how a paver patio starts losing sand between the stones? 🧱

That joint material is not filler. It locks the pavers into each other so the whole surface behaves like one piece. Once it washes out, individual pavers start rocking, water runs down into the base, and the freeze thaw cycle does the rest over the winter.

Refreshing the joints is a fraction of what a reset costs, and autumn is exactly when it should happen.
