Can you spot what’s wrong with this solar installation?

This system was producing power, but that did not mean it was installed correctly.

During a recent Kansas City solar inspection, we found a missing required neutral conductor, poorly sealed penetrations, improper outdoor fittings, and communication wiring zip-tied to the conduit.

Most homeowners would never know these problems were there because the system still appeared to be working.

Solar should be installed safely, correctly, and built to last.

Happy Independence Day from Live Smart Electric & Solar. 🇺🇸

This Fourth of July is especially meaningful as our nation celebrates 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Before I became a master electrician and business owner, I had the privilege of serving alongside some incredible men and women in the U.S. Army. Those experiences gave me a deeper appreciation for the freedoms we celebrate today and for the generations of Americans who have sacrificed to protect them.

Today, I’m grateful to continue serving our community in a different way—helping families, businesses, farms, and churches keep what matters most powered, safe, and prepared.

As we celebrate 250 years of freedom, may we never take for granted the blessings we’ve inherited or the responsibility we share to preserve them for future generations.

Wishing you and your family a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day.

Sometimes the most important part of a solar project isn’t the solar.

This project combined:

☀ Rooftop solar

🔨 A custom-built pergola

⚡ Solar and electrical integration

🏡 Covered outdoor living space

One of my favorite things about projects like this is finding ways to create more value than simply adding solar panels.

The result was additional solar production, usable outdoor living space, and a backyard feature the homeowner could enjoy every day.
