Before the first wall goes up, the paperwork has to be right.
In West Virginia, construction projects may require permits for several areas of work, including building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Depending on the project, additional approvals may also be required for things like fire protection, environmental requirements, or other specialized work.
These permits help ensure projects comply with West Virginia’s building codes, safety standards, and applicable regulations—because building it right starts long before construction begins.
At ARCOR Mechanical Systems, we understand that successful projects depend on careful planning, coordination, and compliance from the ground up.

Where West Virginia’s natural beauty meets the power of the river.
Audra State Park sits along the Middle Fork River, where sandstone cliffs, wooded trails, and rushing water have shaped a landscape that has attracted visitors for generations. One of the park’s most distinctive features is Alum Cave, a natural sandstone overhang carved by the forces of water and time.
Places like Audra remind us that infrastructure isn’t always about what you see—it’s also about creating safe, accessible spaces where people can experience the places that make West Virginia special.
At ARCOR, we’re proud to appreciate the craftsmanship and engineering that help connect people with the outdoors.

Did you know Babcock State Park has roots in one of America’s largest infrastructure programs?
Much of Babcock State Park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the 1930s. The CCC helped build roads, trails, cabins, bridges, and other park infrastructure while working with the rugged Appalachian landscape. Their craftsmanship is still part of what makes Babcock such a special place today.
And, of course, you can’t talk about Babcock without mentioning the iconic Glade Creek Grist Mill—a working reminder of the engineering and craftsmanship that shaped West Virginia’s history.
At ARCOR Mechanical Systems, we appreciate the infrastructure and skilled craftsmanship that help build, maintain, and preserve the places that make our communities what they are.

A welding arc can reach temperatures of 6,000°F–10,000°F—hot enough to melt steel in seconds. While the surrounding metal doesn’t get quite that hot, the weld zone still reaches temperatures above 1,800°F, allowing two pieces of metal to permanently fuse together.
That kind of heat is what creates strong, lasting welds—but it also takes skill to control. Experienced welders carefully manage heat to prevent warping, cracking, and other defects, ensuring every weld is built to perform.
At ARCOR Mechanical, precision, craftsmanship, and safety go hand in hand on every project!

Eye-catching architecture has the power to captivate—and Olimpo Nômade is no exception.
Designed by Langarita Navarro Arquitectos, Olimpo Nômade reimagines temporary housing with a bold and modern approach. Created specifically for musicians and performers, this lightweight, foldable, and transportable structure debuted on Portimão Beach in Portugal’s Algarve region as part of a festival setting.
Rather than serving as traditional housing, Olimpo Nômade functions as a portable backstage village where artists can prepare before performances, relax afterward, and connect throughout the event. The installation includes shaded gathering spaces, outdoor recreation areas, an inflatable lounge, bubble-inspired dressing rooms, and a reflective cube reserved for headlining performers.
Designed as a portable “galactic city,” the project combines creativity with functionality, demonstrating how innovative construction can transform temporary spaces into immersive environments. Its modular design also allows it to be easily assembled, disassembled, stored, and transported, making it an ideal solution for the ever-changing needs of festivals and live events.

Before a welder strikes an arc or a construction crew picks up a tool, it all starts deep beneath the earth. Raw ore is mined and processed to remove impurities before it’s transformed into metals like steel and iron. Those metals are then shaped into everything from welding equipment and hand tools to structural beams, heavy machinery, and the materials used to build our roads, bridges, and buildings. The journey from rock to construction site begins with ore. After it’s mined, the ore is crushed into smaller pieces and separated from unwanted rock and minerals. It then goes through high-temperature furnaces where the valuable metal is extracted in a process called smelting. During this stage, impurities are removed, leaving behind molten metal that can be refined even further to improve its strength and durability. Once refined, the metal is cast into bars, billets, or slabs and shipped to manufacturers, where it’s transformed into numerous products.

OSHA abatement is the process of correcting workplace hazards after they’ve been identified, helping create a safer environment for everyone on the job. From repairing equipment and improving safety procedures to eliminating potential risks, every step taken toward abatement helps prevent injuries before they happen. Safety isn’t just about meeting standards—it’s about protecting the people who keep our industries going.

Did you know? Around 50% of all man-made products are connected to welding?
From the cars we drive to the homes we live in, bridges we cross, pipelines that move our resources, and machinery that keeps our world running—welding is everywhere.
Welding isn’t just joining two pieces of metal. It’s helping build the world around us.
Behind the things we use every day, there’s a welder who helped make it possible!

WHAT’S THE ENGINE DIFFERENCE?
They may both be turbo-diesel engines, but they were built for two completely different jobs.
🟡 Caterpillar 246D3: The 3.3L Cat C3.3B turbo diesel produces 74.3 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque at 1,500 RPM. That might sound small compared to a pickup engine, but this engine is designed to power a skid steer where torque is transferred through the machine’s hydraulic system to produce serious digging, lifting, and pushing capability. The 246D3 has a 2,200-lb rated operating capacity and a 7,355-lb breakout force.
⚫️ Ford 6.7L Power Stroke V8: The numbers jump dramatically. Ford’s 6.7L Power Stroke produces 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque, while the high-output version reaches 500 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft of torque. That torque comes in at just 1,600 RPM, giving the Super Duty the low-end pulling power needed for heavy towing and hauling.
So while the 6.7L Power Stroke makes more than 6× the horsepower and over 5× the torque of the Cat 3.3L, horsepower alone doesn’t tell the whole story. The Cat is engineered to turn its power into hydraulic force and controlled machine movement, while the Power Stroke is designed to propel a truck and move enormous loads down the road.
