Tips for your septic and drains.
With everyone being isolated at home because work, school and evening activities are canceled or closed there has been an increase in septic and drain issues. So here are some tips to help us all get through it together with out having a mess.
With the ground saturation level drain fields are becoming over saturated and this has been leading to sewage backups.
1. Spread washing laundry out. Try to minimize to one load of laundry a day.
2. Spread out showers and baths. Try to avoid back to back showers. Don't do laundry while showering.
3. If its yellow let it mellow and if its brown flush it down. (Reccomend 2 yellows then flush)
4. If your septic was put in 2010 or newer you have an effluent filter on the outlet of your septic tank, that needs to be cleaned twice a year.
5. Have your septic tank pumped on a regular basis of 3 to 5 years. High levels of sludge can create issues in your drainfield as well as flow in and out of your tank.
6. A concerned customer reminded me I forgot things you should and shouldn't flush. Things you should flush, toilet paper and anything that comes out of your body. Things you SHOULDN'T..... anything not listed above! No wipes, no feminine products, no condoms, or anything else.
I could go on but these are going to be the most beneficial during this critical time. We are open during all this, so if you need us call. We are utilizing all social distancing methods, electronic billing and payment, setting up a game plan over the phone and getting the issues resolved with little to no personal interactions. You family is as important as ours.
Everyone stay safe.
