Do this before the drywall goes up.

A lot of our clients want their house wired for the future. On this build, all the wires for the internet and the audio throughout the house come into one room that controls the whole network. Everything's labeled and run ahead of time, so once you move in, you don't have to damage any sheetrock or paint to run new cables.

The orange tube is conduit. It's hollow and runs to where the TV is going, so new wires can be pushed through later without fishing behind the wall.

Behind the Build...

Swipe to slide 2 for the kitchen then and now. The old wood cabinets, counters and floor are out. White shaker cabinets, white countertops and new flooring are in.

The old carpet is gone through the rooms you see here. The bathroom has a new vanity and the same new floor.

Some of our pours start at 3 a.m. Here's why!

Concrete is made to set up quickly, and heat makes it set faster. The hotter it is, the faster we have to work it. So when we pour, we want it as cool as we can get it, which means early in the morning.

And right before the trucks show up, the crew is out there measuring the forms again. Triple checking. Once the concrete is poured, the foundation can't move, so everything gets checked to the inch first.

Pour day on this build!

This is a concrete pump truck, or a boom truck. The boom goes up and over the whole foundation, so the trucks don't have to drive around it.

Some crews use a ground pump set in the middle of the foundation. Those vibrate a lot. They can knock things loose and even move the rebar. So we pump from a boom truck instead: up, over, and down onto the pad, placed right where it needs to go.

Fill dirt spread across the pad. Concrete culvert pipe in the ditch at the street. A pipe section moved on chains. Gravel down by lunch.

That's the driveway culvert in. Foundation is next on this one.

Behind the Build: the forms are going in.

Same golf course lot we broke ground on a few weeks back. The pad is graded, the laser level is out, and the form boards are staked and strung. The foundation pours once we're through inspections.
