But yes, if you want to put in a new native bed, save those amazon boxes!!! A few metal garden staples will hold it in place so it can smother the grass underneath. You can put mulch on top to help the cardboard break down, or just remove the boxes once the grass is decently dead underneath.

*Note: If you have bermuda grass, you will probably spend the rest of your life pulling it up, just resign yourself to this fact now.

Logs also make a nice (free!) border as well as pollinator habitat. (or kitty headrest). Use whatchu got!
