Sometimes, the biggest danger to a tree isn’t what you can see above ground—it’s what’s happening underneath!
Recently, we had a client whose tree came crashing down during strong winds. Unfortunately, the tree had significant internal decay and damage, with carpenter ant activity contributing to the deterioration of the wood.
🐜 Did you know? Carpenter ants don’t actually eat wood like termites do. Instead, they tunnel through softened or decaying wood to build their nests. Their presence can be a warning sign of an already weakened tree.
🌧️ When storms and strong winds roll through, trees with compromised trunks or root systems may be at a greater risk of falling.
