The Fafco solar water heating system is the simplest most affordable (half the price) system on the market. This makes (saves) $$$$, and it looks great. Go to www.fafco.com.

The Beatitudes Home for physically and mentally disabled children was blessed and opened on July 2008 located in Iron River, Golden Spring, Jamaica. The Beatitudes Home for physically and mentally disabled children is a facility built and operated by The Missionaries of the Poor. The Missionaries of the Poor (M.O.P.) is an international monastic order of Brothers dedicated to "Joyful Service with Christ on the Cross" to serve the poorest of the poor.
The home is located in a remote area where there is no electric grid to supply power to the home. The brothers use a gasoline powered generator 2 hrs per day to operate small appliances. They have no refrigeration for food or medications. The Brothers also use a gasoline powered pump to fill the cistern on the roof of the building with water. They must do this three times a day to provide water for sanitary uses.
The purpose of this trip is to install a simple solar power generating system and a water pumping system.

Power and Water Pumping Project Description

The Brothers have already installed a small 200 watt solar electric generating system. They use this to power a 12 volt low voltage lighting system.
This project is being developed to install additional solar panels to provide The Beatitudes Home with electricity for a basic 120 volt lighting system with additional capacity to provide power for small appliances (refrigerator, av equipment). We will install a 120 volt water pump. We may also power a potable water treatment system. The Beatitudes location and current water source and elevations make this location an ideal candidate for this type of system. There will be no cost to the brothers for the power. The system will provide electric power for the residents, while maintaining the simplified lifestyle that the brothers cherish.

We need two more volunteers preferably electricians to help with the install in Jamaica. Participants will be covering their own expenses. We are seeking tax deductible contributions to purchase equipment specifically for this project. To make a tax deductible contribution, mail your check to:
