Due to the recent cold snap I wanted to share a little info about freezing well pumps and tanks. About one third of all homes in Union County are still on wells. That is a lot of aggravated people that can wake up to no shower and most important, no coffee! There are a few options if your well pump tank freezes:

1) Call someone to thaw out your pipes every time they freeze
2) Try to insulate your well house better
3) Drag a cord and light /lamp to thaw out water
4) Have someone wire a 110volt outlet off of your 220volt well pump which can be a code violation and will have to be changed if you ever sell your home (I personally wouldn't take this as an option).
5) The BEST solution: hire a licensed Electrician! I will install a 240 volt switch and light that will be code compliant and, under most circumstances, keep your water running and you happy!
