The brick faces of this chimney were falling off due to a failing cement crown. Water gets in the cracks of the cement top and fills the holes of the brick. In the winter time the water freezes and expands which results in the faces popping off. Here's a little chimney restoration job we done the other day. We ground out and Tuck pointed the entire chimney from the flashing up on all four sides. Here is a beautiful chimney restoration we done not too long ago. We removed the old deteriorated chimney crown. Then we ground out and tuck pointed the entire chimney from the flashing up on all four sides. Then we topped it off with a nice Limestone crown and high strength cement with fiber in it to help resist cracking.
