Swipe all the way through to see the original image I was given. The eagle is off an old civil war Michigan battle flag. It is a very faded image and I spent a lot of time drawing the cut lines onto it.

Wood art is such a beautiful thing, to be able to take a flat image of a threadbare flag like this and bring it to life, it’s so much fun honestly! I’m just so thankful for my job and for my clients who put their trust in me! Thank you all!

Once again, this will be hanging in the conservation room in the Heritage Hall at the Michigan State Capital Building. 🇺🇸

As for details, the frame and eagle feathers are walnut as well as the bottom layer of letters on “save the flags”. The white parts of the bald eagle are white oak with white applied to them. The beak and talons are yellowheart. The painted letters are mdf and everything else is poplar stained with acrylic paints. Everything was cut on my scrollsaw and shaped by me.
