What a Saturday!

After getting rained out for three days this week, we came into Madison today and somehow knocked out a two day job in one day!

We stained this beautiful privacy fence, front and back, including the sections with bamboo, along with the front deck and back door. Everything came together beautifully, and I couldn’t be happier with the finished product.

I guess that’s what happens when you’re running on autopilot at the end of exterior season and you’ve had three days off because of rain. We were absolutely flying today!

Huge shout out to the crew for putting in the work on a Saturday and getting this one wrapped up. The hustle doesn’t stop just because the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Now it’s time to switch gears. Monday we’re starting a big commercial bank project, and I’m looking forward to showing everyone what we’ve got coming!

This is what my Saturday looks like! Reading blueprints, going over the details, and getting everything ready for a nice commercial painting project we’re starting Monday morning.

A lot of the work happens before a brush ever touches a wall. Preparation, planning, and making sure everything is done right from the start.

Oh, what a GORGEOUS house! 😍

We didn’t get the opportunity to paint this beautiful home, but we did get our hands on something pretty incredible!

This was no ordinary deck staining project.

We’re talking about a massive custom built, two story deck with a beautiful oversized pergola, multiple levels, gorgeous stairways, and a stunning retaining wall that ties everything together.

Now, a lot of this deck was built using composite materials, so our job was to bring all the natural wood elements together with a beautiful, consistent finish.

We stained the wooden handrails, fascia boards, support posts, beams, stair components, pergola, and all the other exposed wood surfaces throughout this incredible outdoor space.

For this project, we used Sherwin-Williams SuperDeck Solid Color Stain in Tricorn Black, giving all those wooden surfaces a rich, bold finish that complements the composite decking and the architecture of the home.

And let me tell you, there was A LOT of detail involved in this one!

When I say we treat painting like an art form, this is exactly what I mean.

Just look at this property. The architecture, the craftsmanship, the different elevations, and the contrast of that beautiful black finish against the home. It’s an absolute work of art.

The people who built this deck clearly took tremendous pride in their craftsmanship, and we wanted to make sure our work reflected that same level of care.

Another HUGE commercial project officially in the books for Summers Painting, and we finished with a couple days to spare! Even with a rain delay yesterday and a few more last week, my crew got it done.

About a month and a half ago, we completed the interior painting of a large apartment building for Galway Companies Inc.. Shortly after, they reached back out and asked us to take on the exterior of this big boy.

They handed us the blueprints, we submitted our bid, they accepted, and we went to work.

Before we touched a paintbrush, we power washed the entire building. All that brick was previously an outdated brownish yellow, and even the railings were yellow.

Now LOOK AT IT!

The transformation is absolutely incredible. The colors are vibrant, the railings are a beautiful black, and the entire building looks like a piece of art.

We used Sherwin-Williams Loxon in a flat finish on the masonry. Even with a flat finish, fresh paint still catches just enough light to make those colors pop.

These guys never fail to amaze me. I say it all the time, but I genuinely believe I have the Michael Jordan crew of painters. The level of pride, consistency, and work ethic these guys bring every single day is something special.

No BS. No games. No excuses.

We showed up on time. We did the preparation. We handled the weather. We stayed ahead of schedule. And most importantly, we did exactly what we said we were going to do.

Personal project today. I spent the day bringing this pergola back to life, and this one needed the full process.

My lead painter Doug came out and washed everything the week prior so it had plenty of time to dry. Today I scraped off all of the old failing stain, sanded down the rough areas and ridges, did some wood filling where needed, then sanded everything again to get it as clean and uniform as possible.

Once the prep was finished, I matched the previous color and applied two solid coats. I also upgraded the product from the previous Home Depot stain to Sherwin Williams SuperDeck Solid Color Stain for better protection and a much better overall system.

There’s a reason we put prep first in everything we do. The finished product is only as good as the work underneath it.

If you own a historic home and you’re thinking about having it painted next year, now is the time to start planning.

April is already almost fully booked. At the pace we’re booking right now, I expect a good portion of summer to be spoken for before spring even gets here.

We’re in go mode and we’re not slowing down just because the exterior season is coming to an end. We’re still getting calls every day from homeowners hoping to get exterior work completed this year, but we are officially at max capacity. We started giving everyone a heads up back in July that the schedule was filling quickly.

Historic homes especially take time, proper prep, and careful scheduling. If your home is on the list for 2027, please plan accordingly and get your estimate scheduled early.

Want to see a transformation?

We’ll be painting the historic Cooksville Church soon, and the first step of every exterior project we do is a thorough wash.

Dirt, debris, spider webs, mildew, loose and failing paint, you name it. We want the surface as clean as possible before we ever start our prep or open a can of paint.

Just look at the difference in these steps from washing alone. That’s years of buildup removed and the natural wood brought back to life.

This is only the beginning. This is going to be one of those memorable projects, and I can’t wait to show you the finished transformation.

The second coat on the walls and ceilings is officially done at the first ever KEYGUARD store. Thank you Germi

Next up is all the trim, doors and vanity in gloss Iron Ore from . Then we’ll get the storefront windows cleaned up and the vinyl KEYGUARD logo installed on the front door.

Internet gets installed in two days.

Once this next shipment of blue, yellow, frosted and white comes in and I get every preorder packed and shipped, I’m renting a U Haul and moving the entire KEYGUARD operation out of my basement and into the shop.

Then it’s time to build the official KEYGUARD shipping station.

This started in my basement. Now we have our first real headquarters.

For now, this space will be shipping, inventory and operations. As we continue to grow, I’ll eventually open it up to the public.

One step at a time. No rush when you’re building something you plan on being around forever.
