Another interesting maritime job that came up quick - transporting spools of mooring lines between two ships down in Baltimore. The ship pictured is the US Naval Logistics vessel the Charles L. Gilliland. It is a Gordon class vessel and is classified as a Large, Medium Speed Roll On Roll Off (LMSR) vehicle and equipment transport ship. The Gilliland measures 954 feet long and has three main engines that produce a total of 65,000 horsepower with three propellers. I worked on board this ship for 6 months back in 2022.
I delivered the mooring lines to the Cape Washington, another Naval Logistics vessel that I have worked on as well and have posted about on the page here previously.
Thanks for the work, Casey.
